Leave Jerusalem Alone – An Article By Jack Kelley

This is an excellent article written by Jack Kelley (no relation) which gives a good overview of the past, present and future of Jerusalem according to scripture.  His main point is a “hands off” written warning to Obama made by 250 Israeli Rabbis, but he went on to include much more information for his readers.

The article begins:

In a reference to the upcoming “nine days” which culminate in Tisha B’Av, the rabbis tell US Pres. Obama that “during these days, in which the Jewish people mourn the destruction of Jerusalem and mark the disgraceful memory of its destroyers, we are certain that you, Mr. Barack Obama, do not want to enter that disreputable list of those who raise their hand to strike Jerusalem and those who live in it.”

I love this scripture:

“I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.” Zechariah 12:2-3

It is very much worth your time to read!

Its an interesting article, and no doubt factual, and im going out on a limb here, but i believe [ based on scripture of course] that the nation of Israel as we see it today are no more Gods people than the nation of Pakistan. The true Israel are those that are born of the Spirit. Its ironic that they lament over the [twice] destruction of the temple, when the true ” temple” walked and talked among them , and even died for them , but still they refuse to acknowledge His gift to them.
Any way , i can feel the worms making their way toward the lid, anytime now , they will be all over the floor.

You said this – The true Israel are those that are born of the Spirit

I believe there is some truth in this statement, but I still think God has a plan for the nation of Israel. To say that he doesn’t would imply that he changes his mind and we know that is not so. I know Jack Kelley believes they will have a profound part to play but getting them to actually recognize Jesus as Messiah after all these years of denying him is what makes me think maybe they don’t. What is it that will spur them to this realization that hasn’t already? I also realize that we can’t base truth on what we see happening, but on what God has written.

Again, God has not changed and we need to be careful of the “replacement” theology that many have come to follow. I keep thinking of the verse that states we as NT believers were “grafted in” to be included in the very thing God intended for the nation of Israel.

Obviously this is a weak area for me. I’ve heard so many different views on this it is hard to sort it out. But I do agree that all countries need to back off and leave Israel and Jerusalem, their land, their oil, etc. alone. Hands off! America cannot bring peace on it’s own land with all the violence caused from criminals and gangs. What right or place do we have to tell another country what to do when it comes to peace?

Take care and good to see you again. 🙂
