Another Spirit

I found this article a couple of days ago. It explains some of things I experienced while involved in the charismatic, or what I now refer to as “charismania” and the false prophetic – the words of prophecy that came so freely, whether I was with the person or not, the “knowing” or what this author refers to as “clairvoyance” as I started to know things that were impossible otherwise, the feeling of drunkenness, the falling, slain in the spirit, the laying on of hands and anointing others who would be slain, the numerous languages in “tongues”, the expectation of “an intercessor” and spiritual warfare, the dominion and word of faith view to “speak things into existence”, the emphasis on the supernatural in dreams and visions and interpreting, numerology (and I don’t even like numbers), and of course that “prophetic word” that I was a seer, that the Lord called me a seer, was how it was explained to me – -that one false prophetic word that carried so much weight and so much importance and is the very thing that kept me pinned in under it all – and so it went.

I didn’t get into everything mentioned here, I didn’t go contemplative, or experience gold dust or make animal sounds, but what I did get into was enough to nearly destroy me. I think maybe it would have had I died practicing it. I don’t believe we get into heaven after following other gods.

While watching Todd Bentley early on during Lakeland, he said something that got my attention. He said that he could feel the “anointing” in his back. Well, so could I! And it was a new thing for me – a new experience that had just begun happening and I didn’t know why. I thought it odd, how someone who so misrepresented the Lord had the same experiences I did.

Kundalini?  But, from where?  I’m still not sure.

Just after that I began to have an overwhelming desire to practice yoga. I took a class long ago, very long ago, in high school. And I did it some in my home off and on over the years, but I hadn’t for a long time. So, when these thoughts to practice yoga came at me I thought it was strange that the desire was so strong, and I avoided getting involved. But, now I see the connection in what I have recently come to understand  – kundalini yoga.  Remember, kundalini is said to coil at the base of the spine – where I felt the anointing that I thought was of God.

I guess it is simple to say that satan comes at us in many forms and just leave it at that.  But, my inquiring mind won’t let things go so simply. I see so much connection in false Christianity and other religions. I see how these demons are passed from person to person like a virus, and nearly as easily. I am astounded, really at the lack of true discernment so many of us have had and for so long.

Please be careful in these times, they are dangerous. Christianity is slowly becoming something else, something not about the cross, but about people and their gifts, a presence, a feeling, an experience. Please know the people you allow to teach you and their associations. Be sure they are true followers and disciples of the one and only Jesus Christ, because as His word has warned us, many have come, and are still to come in His name! See that no one deceives you and steals your reward!

Final Preparations to Receive the New Age Christ

Another spirit

Satan’s spirit of error (cf. 1 John 4:6) is actively working in the world to blind people’s minds to the truths of the gospel, while guiding them on how to have mystical experiences and empowering them to perform signs and wonders with occult powers. The many demons which Satan has at his disposal are evil spirits who are sent out to deceive people, thereby advancing the interests of the kingdom of darkness. The following actions of these spirits are very evident in the time in which we live:

Strange phenomena. The New Age Movement and its associated false religions is at present focusing attention on the discovery and use of the miracle-working psychic powers of healing, as well as the promotion of various supernatural manifestations. Even at many Christian meetings strange phenomena are now common, e.g. falling (or slaying) in the spirit. Other phenomena, such as laughing in the spirit, prophesying in the spirit and dancing in the spirit, which result from this experience, are also attributed to the Holy Spirit. Many believers blindly accept these phenomena without testing the spirits, despite the danger of spurious satanic imitation in such manifestations. Most of the Word of Faith preachers create strong expectations of powerful manifestations of the Holy Spirit. However, there is no scriptural basis for the signs that allegedly occur at their meetings. There is also the phenomenon of gold-dust falling on the hands, arms or hair of those at the meetings, while some claimed that fillings in their teeth turned into gold! Another modern fad in this movement is the so-called “New Wine” meetings where people experience typical symptoms of drunkenness. This is accompanied by falling, dancing and laughing in the spirit, also pogo stick jumping and making a wide range of animal noises, such as barking like a dog, crowing like a rooster and roaring like a lion! Are not the claims that such highly dubious phenomena and extraordinary behaviour are attributable to the activity of the Holy Spirit quite blasphemous, grossly insulting to Him and detrimental to the Christian witness to the world? It is not difficult to see how ideally this suits Satan’s purpose to discredit the Christian faith and deceive as many as he can. The express purpose of deceiving spirits is to destroy the faith of believers and to mislead, confuse, corrupt, overshadow and control them with the power of deception.

A new spirituality. The deceiving spirit of Satan imitates the Holy Spirit and instills a new kind of spirituality in people. It is a spirit of self-exaltation, pride and arrogance which makes you very important and powerful in your own eyes because of the gifts you have received, the recognition you enjoy, the strong influence you have over people, and also because of your material wealth. The presence, power and gifts of this spirit become the dominating reality in your life, while Jesus is subtly moved to the background. This spirit instils nice and relaxed feelings in you so that you forget all your problems and sins. He does not convict of sin, always condones it, and has no problems to live with lies, deceit, distorted versions of the truth, and moral laxity. He gives people the false hope that they are saved and will go to heaven. He uses so-called ‘prophets’ as human mediators to convey messages to you about what God wants you to do. He also majors on extra-biblical revelations from God through dreams and visions. He removes guilt complexes on his own authority, without specific reference to the cross, and surrounds you with light and joy. You are ever dependent upon him. He guides you through a process of inner healing to a spiritual reprogramming of your life in which the scars of the past, and even from before your birth, are put right by self-healing, positive confession, hypnotic regression and the breaking of generation curses.

This new spirituality is contemplative. People are taught to switch over to their ‘right-brain’ through meditation, walking labyrinths and practicing mystical techniques such as yoga. They empty their minds by the using of mantras (the repetition of a single word or short phrase) which helps them descend to the deeper levels of their subconscious mind where they experience an altered state of consciousness. In this spiritual state some people meet spirit guides who teach or inform them, while others even hear voices speaking to them. There are also those who receive supernatural gifts such as prophesying, healing, tongues, astral travel, clairvoyance, and the performing of miracles.

This spirit also tells you that you are a king already, who has dominion on earth, and can claim and demand anything you like. You do not have to suffer poverty, disease or any other afflictions, and you can change anything through positive confession. You are in command of your life. He motivates people to organise transformation rallies as a means to usher in the kingdom of God on earth. He also makes his victims believe they can pull down demonic strongholds in any society by making use of strategic spiritual warfare. Any notable success is evading them as Satan will only be incarcerated when Christ comes (Rev. 20:1-3). In this dispensation, only individuals can be set free from the power of Satan – not entire cities or countries!

Berit Kjos posted a very helpful chart in which she indicates the transition from evangelical beliefs to the new spirituality: From this chart it is evident that a spiritually blinded humanity explores mystical powers in its quest to become divine, united and in full control of its own destiny. People end up discovering a mystical christ in their own hearts (the god within) who guides them into gaining a position of dominion on earth.

Rallying to be Heard

I have a problem with these prayer rallies. I believe that we should pray. We are told to time and again in the word to pray without ceasing – 1 Thessalonians 5:17; to give ourselves continually to prayer Acts 6:4; Jesus prayed in John 17,; He taught His disciples to pray in Luke 11; two disciples prayed in the temple in Acts 3:1; Peter prayed on a house top Acts 10:9, and many more scriptures on prayer, the laying on of hands, prayers that healed, delivered and even raised the dead. But nothing that resembled the prayer rallies we see today.

Jesus told his disciples to pray in secret, to go in your room and shut the door, and not to be seen by men as they hypocrites do, or to use vain repetitions thinking the many words will get the prayer heard –  see Matthew 6:5-8

Additionally, I believe that fasting is biblical although I am not big on fasting. Not because I am not willing to part with my food, but because I just don’t get it. And all the teaching I’ve had and things I have read don’t help me to get it either. But, I will say that fasting, like prayer according to Jesus is done in secret and we don’t make a big display or even tell others that we are doing it –  see Matthew 6:16-18.

So why these big displays of prayer and fasting rallies held in large stadiums with lots of advertising and cries for support- a large following of people and a large cash flow to go along with it?  Are the prayers of these people heard by God? Or, it is just a display to control and manipulate thousands at a time towards an agenda of man? Usually there is a reason behind these rallies – to end abortion, to end homosexuality, to honor marriage between one man and one woman, judicial rulings in the courts, etc.

These issues have become so rampant in our society because they are life choices made by people who do not honor God or know Him. Prayer for the lost is one thing, but making different choices takes a change of heart  by each individual person in their own recognition of sin and need of forgiveness. In other words, the only thing that can change these choices is repentance. God is not going to suddenly rule over man and his choice to choose how to live. No amount of prayer will change that truth because it is of His own design. And that is a good thing. Because the moment God decides to stop giving us the freedom to choose is the moment He stops loving us.  God does not change and that is a very good thing too.

But again, there is more to the story, I think. These rallies are done by those who think they can change the world with their words, speaking the right things at the right time in accordance to what is viewed as “God’s will” or what God is doing in “this hour” because we are at a “pivotal moment in history that can be missed”.  Someone has “received the prophetic word” or the “mandate” from God “for such a time as this”.

You’ve heard me mention Dominionism/Kingdom Now and Word of Faith.  I think these people leading these rallies and those attending probably feel they are doing the right thing. But, they have a misguided sense of the issues of prayer and fasting and the coming last of the last days.  It could be that these leaders are so caught up in their mindsets of “doing” they have forgotten what the bible says in these areas. I don’t know the reasons for sure; only the Lord knows the condition of each heart. That is not for me to know or to decide on. So, I give them a little wiggle room  and I do pray for them to see the truth. However, what they do, regardless of why is still wrong nonetheless. And those who follow them share in their error – see 2 John 8-11.

We, as Christians, are not establishing a righteous kingdom of God here on earth.  Jesus will do that when He returns, and He will return in bodily form where every eye will see Him and every knee will bow in honor that Jesus is Lord. He will rule the earth as the Prince of Peace and Lord of Lords. He is the only one who can do these things.

We, as Christians, will not take on the embodiment and become a “corporate Christ”. I get yucky shivers even typing those words! This is the belief behind “Manifest Sons”.  There is not a “birthing” process taking place in the spirit realm to bring this about. The birth has already happened, long ago in a manger. His name is Jesus. He is the Messiah.

We, as Christians will not become “Joel’s Army”, nor is God raising up an army comprised of youth to do His will in the last days. This is a misconception of the verses in Joel 2 about an army of locusts. That scripture and the thoughts on a “Joel’s Army” have absolutely no relation one to the other. It is complete lie.

So there is my short little  run down on four movements going on in the church. They are heretical but very widely believed. I always like to read Matthew 24 and Revelation 21 and 22 when I wonder what is to happen.

I digressed slightly because all of these tie in to some points I have been making on my blog and some articles I am getting ready to write.  I see things going on that Christians are upset about.  And I have been upset right along with them, as you have. But my thinking in some things have changed and I have found myself looking more to the truth and in how Jesus handled things when He was here.

I started talking of prayer rallies. But I have also been wondering about the National Day of Prayer we have here in America and why that all came about. I also have been thinking of the Muslim Prayer going on Sept 25 that so many are upset over. But these are upcoming things to write about in the next few days. I hope you get a chance to come back and read them. I would love to hear your views too!

Until then, may the Lord protect and guide all that you do and grant you His wisdom! Maranatha! 🙂

A Call

You may first want to read the previous article Rallying To Be Heard as it prefaced what I am getting into now.

Yesterday I received an e-mail for a call to prayer sent by Lou Engle. If you aren’t familiar with him or his ministry you can find his website here  – TheCall.  I don’t receive e-mails from him directly, but this one was forwarded to me from someone else. (Someone who probably now wishes they hadn’t.)

Lou’s message bothered me on several counts. First of all, he came out of Promise Keepers and felt a “call” to begin setting up prayer rallies involving people, especially teenagers and young adults to fast and pray and then join together at these all day prayer rallies held all over the country. These seem more like the old testament way of a solemn assembly than they do a joining of new testament believers.

The previous article address the biblical reasons why I disagree with these ideas so I won’t rehash them. But to those issues I will add that it bothers me kids are always pulled into these things. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe they should be taught to fast and pray among other things – train up a child – however, I see this more as the responsibly of the parents, namely the fathers, than their children. It always seems men with agendas are after the youth, good or bad. Jesus called grown men to follow and to teach, not the kiddies. He didn’t call the women because we just naturally follow after Him, huh ladies?  Ok, kidding, kidding!

There is another issue I had with that e-mailed request. I do not understand why these people always seem to associate an event with a prophetic sign.  I did not understand that even when I was one of them. They believe every thing has a meaning and are very quick to find one and call it prophetic. How do they know, how can any of us know that what they say is the sign, truly is the sign. Blind faith in them?

Islamic Unity on Capitol Hill

Islamic Unity on Capitol Hill

Yes, on September 25 the dreaded Muslim, Islamic, “Jummah” day of prayer at the Capitol. We didn’t get our day of prayer, the National Day of Prayer, set aside and practiced by all presidents for decades past but this one! Just this one, Obama, who claims he is a Christian, who claims he prayed in private that day, who claims to go to a church, location private, who recognizes Muslim contributions  – and more – to our society – that president.

Our president, who had Rick Warren, “America’s Pastor” and claimed “Christian” pray at his Inauguration to   – Isa –  in the name of Isa of the Muslim religion, not the Christian Savior of the world. Now we have prayer Muslim prayer at the Capitol. Of course we do. (I’ve heard this is not the first time but I will agree that the Muslim influence seems to be growing in our country!)

Back to my point with Lou Engle who believes that the lack of support on our National Day and the support for the Islamic Day have some significance in what God is trying to bring to our country, and that the sign is a young, run-away teenager.

Here is a clip from the e-mail –

However, I believe in this moment of divine providence God has raised up on the stage of history a little “Esther” that if we pray and fast for her she could be a major voice to expose the dark under-belly of Islam and radiate a bright hope for a day of salvation for Muslims in America.

Oh, the last “Esther” we had, only last year, was Sarah Palin. Here’s the new one Rifqa Bary, a young 17-year-old woman

Jesus was the one raised up and that He is our hope! Not a person  – and I don’t care who says otherwise, he is wrong!

This convergence, I believe, is urgently summoning us in the midst of the rising tide of Islamic influence in America to recognize that our God is above every god and that if we return to Him with all of our hearts and call upon Him with fasting and prayer then God could use what the enemy meant for evil to bring about a great day of salvation for Muslims in America, of which Rifqa is but a major sign.

On Friday, September 25th, the Muslim Day of Prayer, we are calling the Church of America to fast and pray that Muslims would be moved by the Holy Spirit, convicted by the testimony of Christ, and even be visited by Jesus in dreams. We must pray that God would restrain the spiritual powers behind Islam and grant us the great awakening that we desperately need for America. Let us hear the call to prayer and not miss this moment.

Islam is here in America because we allow freedom of religion in this country.

Now, whatever that meant early on  – and most of us agree it was the freedom to practice Christianity – is not what it means today. We allowed people with different religions to come here in America and we have allowed them to practice those religions under what we claim is the freedom to do so. That is the reason we find ourselves in this situation. Not because we are in a catalyst moment due of the plight and the life of a young woman.

It is not enough that they themselves are elitists, but they will drag unsuspecting people right in there with them, give them a biblical name and mission to go right along with it.  And they always use the old testament and I find that so strange that they come in the name of the Lord, yet they leave out the emphasis of the new covenant in Jesus! And this, the wonderful story of Ester, they have twisted around to fit their purpose! If you read it, you will see what I am talking about.

(I totally sympathize with Rifqa’s situation and I will get to that in a different article. No one has the right to kill anyone else no matter who they call their “god”.) – <<UPDATE – See my comment #4>>

And, “great awakening” is again, the dominionist/kingdom now idea that there will be a great revival to come on the earth. The bible says there will be a great falling away.

But, there is more and this one really bothers me.  He said this –

and even be visited by Jesus in dreams

It sounds nice, even possible. After all, our God can do anything He wants, can’t He? He can make anything happen because He is God. But, does He?  Is this how He brings unbelievers to repentance by dream visits? Or when believers fast and pray because doing so removes the evil presence of the demonic hold (more dominionism). Because I thought salvation came through hearing the word (Romans 10:17) and by revelation and conviction of the Holy Spirit (John 16:8-9). I thought this was the reason we were told to preach the gospel (Luke 24:47, 2 Timothy 4:2). Speak it with words, not ask for dreams to do it for us.

I know from experience that it is very dangerous to ask or to expect God to work in a way that He has not designed. I know that this opens us to the demonic. This is why I am so upset at this kind of thing! We need to be very careful in what we teach others and what we ask or expect of God!

One more thing that I find interesting in all of this is the similarities between Rick Warren’s in the name of “Isa” prayer and the claims of dreams from the muslims of the man in white. When I first heard about these dreams some years ago I thought it was wonderful that Jesus was revealing Himself in dreams to these people. But, now, I know better. And just because it is a man in white, does not make him the Messiah. Remember, satan disguises himself as an angel of light!

Please, please, it is so easy to get all fired up and excited. But let’s be careful and make every effort to uphold Christ and the true ways taught in the bible over our emotional responses and fleshy expectations! Let’s be sober-minded!

And, yes, let’s do pray that the gospel of our Lord is preached to every muslim person in our country and that they would see the truth and repent. And maybe that means that we will be required to share our faith face to face with a muslim nearby. Let’s be ready!

Jesus is Lord!

A Purpose Driven “WHATEVER”

I’m not a follower of Rick Warren. I read The Purpose Driven Life a few years ago and it bored me.  It’s just not my bag. But I see him popping up a bit more in some very strange places for a pastor. With the upcoming release of his latest work of “proof texting” entitled, The Hope You Need scheduled to take place just in time for “christmas shopping” I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at what this man really stands for. So before we all flock to our nearest and dearest book store for that hot copy, or that nice extra stocking stuffer, before we begin setting up life groups and bible studies based on more delusions, let’s have a reminder of who he is exactly.

from bruceewilson

Why would a man who claims to represent Christ and be a shepherd to His people compare the followers of Christ to the followers of the likes of Hitler, Stalin and Mao?  Why so impressed?  Could it be that at the very bottom of Rick Warren’s purpose driven heart, lies the same kind of evil, behind-the-scenes plotting?

“Whatever It Takes!” is not how God has us carry out His plan!  But, to those not willing to discern or see the truth, it looks good, it sounds good, it’s fun and it’s always a good thing to be a part of a good cause, right? So, let’s just stamp the name of “jesus” (or would that be “Isa”)  on it and go forward!

The man known as America’s Favorite Pastor has quite an involvement in government and world affairs. I always get suspicious when pastors start to play around in the political arena. It looks like America’s fav is well beyond most.   And I am sure there are some green-eyed monsters rising up out of the pool of domionists, because this man seems to have risen far above all of them in his accomplishments in the dominionistic attempts to take the world for Christ before His return!

Let’s look at some of Rick’s achievements

The United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability

8. Develop a global partnership for development

“By the year 2015, all 191 United Nations Member States have pledged to meet these goals. Keep the Promise – 2015”

Warren’s P.E.A.C.E. Plan

1. Plant Churches

2. Equip Servant Leaders

3. Assist the Poor

4.  Care for the Sick

5. Educate the Next Generation

If you go to the link above at the bullet you will see the chart comparison that show the similarities in these two plans. Notice, Warren’s original step #1 Plant Churches,  has been changed to  Promote Reconciliation.  Hmmm, maybe it’s me, but I am thinking this is not the same as the original plan and kinda takes God right out of the picture, doesn’t it?

The article, taken from Kjos Ministries has excellent information and is worth your time to look over.

Church and Pastor focus and involvment to carry out his plan.

  • Rick Warren has joined the advisory council for Tony Blair’s Faith Foundation as The Reverend Dr Rick Warren, Founding and Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church and Founder of the P.E.A.C.E Coalition – The Council is composed of individuals from each of the six faiths with which the Foundation initially intends to work. The members are either religious leaders or significant scholars. They will often be nationally or internationally known but the most important thing is the expertise and wisdom each can bring to bear from his or her individual experience.

It will be a place where members of the three Abrahamic faiths can meet on equal terms, encounter their traditions, and explore their roots; a place where they can both discover what they share and tackle their differences.

Jesus never associated with rulers or representatives of other religions. He did not believe in or support the idea that we should “coexist” much less function as one especially with groups responsible for killing His own.

  • Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations as reported a few years ago to Joseph Farah, World Net Daily

Does this appeal to you? A one world socialist government and all that entails, monetary system, population control, one world religion and it will not be Christianity – think  – Rockefeller “Illuminati”, very bad news indeed, and no place for a man representing the Most High God, much less teaching His people!

  • Rick Warren leads public prayers that seem like salvation prayers. They are not. They are watered down, people pleasing words having nothing to do with sin, confession and repentance.  Remember the words of John the Baptist – “REPENT!”
  • Rick Warren set up the presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain at his Saddleback Church.  I can’t think of a better reason for this than Warren’s own exposure.
  • Rick Warren Accolades – global strategist, theologian, philanthropist  – from his site
  • Rick Warren prays to “Isa”, or “in the name of ‘Isa'” at Obama inauguration.

from BereanBeacon

This is only an overview and a reminder as there is much more information than I can put in an article. Please do your own research and find the truth if you have put your faith in Rick Warren as a pastor and man of God. He may have started out right, but somehow, he has ended up on the wrong path.

Is this the man you will follow and consider a shepherd?

We are in the world, not of the world. There will be no peace until Jesus Christ comes back to earth and sets up His kingdom.  Until that time the kingdom of God is one of spirit.

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And this world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Invisible Friends?

I’ve been intending to do some work on the misguided teachings and ministry of John Paul Jackson. I’ve taken several of his courses and participated in his dream interpretation training. He is quite deceived and one to avoid no matter how many accolades he receives by the charismatics. He is another “one of those” who have very little bible knowledge and loads of so called supernatural experiences. He has a great following who pay him loads of money to learn dream interpretation, numerology and how to have all sorts of supernatural encounters.  He calls himself a Christian and uses the name of Christ in his work, but he is far from a true man of God.

He is one of the original Kansas City Prophets and spent time under the tutelage – if you can call it that –  of John Wimber of the Vineyard, another whose emphasis on the supernatural outweighed the importance of bible study and prayer.

I came on some of his latest teaching, and although I already knew he was in error, I was still shocked at this particular article. You will be too. Why are these maniacs always after the children?

What are invisible friends?

Link here

July 09
by John Paul Jackson

Did you have invisible friends when you were a child — playmates only you could see? Concerned parents occasionally approach me about this topic. What are “invisible friends”? Are they dangerous? Is this a sign of a prophetic gift? <<Prophecy is by the will of the Lord, through the Holy Spirit, not through visitation of an entity.>>What should parents do when their children insist these people are real? Though I am not the final authority on the topic, I do have some ideas based on Scripture and personal experience.

<<He is no biblical authority on the topic, and this type of “personal” experience has no basis for truth, so why would anyone believe him!>>

When it comes to their children having invisible friends, many Christian parents assume the worst. It’s a familiar spirit! It’s a spirit guide! That could very well be true, but remember: For every counterfeit, there is an original.<<The bible doesn’t tell us for every counterfeit, there is an original!>> In other words, there is a strong possibility that when children play with invisible friends, they are really seeing and interacting with angels — and often, they are aware of that.  <<Based on what truth?  There are no examples in the bible that tell us children and angels interact together!>>

What do angels look like?

The Bible says that we won’t always be able to tell the difference between humans and angels:

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

— Hebrews 13:2

<<I don’t think the point to “entertain” is for children to have tea parties with them.>>

It would be very difficult for us to “unwittingly” entertain angels if they looked like angels. We would know exactly what they were if they were glowing or had six-foot wingspans. Instead, based on this Scripture, we can assume that sometimes, angels look just like you and me. They may appear to us as painters, mathematicians or doctors; they may look African, Irish or Hispanic. They may even look like children. <<NO! There is nothing in the bible that tells us angels can look like children!>>

<<Here goes either a true account of an encounter with demons or a flat out lie.>>

The night Diane and I brought Micah home from the hospital, I was visited by two angels: a 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. I didn’t immediately understand they were angels, because they were unlike any angels I had seen before. They began to tell me different things about Micah, and I asked them, “How do you know that?”

“Because we’re angels sent from the throne of God,” they replied.

“You’re not angels,” I said. “I know what angels are like. They’re bigger than you. They’re adult-sized. Some of them are really huge, and some of them are really muscular, and some of them are really fast, and you’re not any of that. You’re just a 7-year-old little girl and a 10-year-old little boy.”

<<Curious that Jackson knows their ages 7 & 10 years, which being the king of numerology, probably has some kind of spiritual (occult) significance. I never realized angels had age. How old is Michael, the arch-angel in the bible, John Paul?? >>

“You haven’t seen everything,” they answered.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, you don’t know that many of us choose to take the form of a child when we are assigned to that child. <<Again, where in scripture? This sounds like that “guardian angel” idea.>> Your children talk to us, because we take a form that doesn’t threaten them but allows them to become what God created them to become. <<This is a strange comment, but is he is saying that these so called angels have a place in our children’s growth?>>We’re here to help them, not to prove we’re anything. <<Angels are messengers of  God, so what is the message for the children? When did a child ever have a visit from an angel in the bible? God deals with adults, not children. Of course they can have a relationship with Him, through Jesus as we all can. But, He does not send angels to communicate with our kids!>>Here’s another one of us now!”  <<Oh goody!>>

A little boy approached, and the girl said, “Tell him what’s going on.”

“I was there,” the second boy told me. “I saw them up in the throne room, and I saw God giving them the assignment to watch over your son Micah. What they tell you, you need to do, because I saw God giving them the command.” <<How convenient to have the word of another lying demon to make it look so true!  Yes, angels have spoken to people in the bible. But, why, if we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit would we need to converse or get directions from an angel? This doesn’t work for me!

It is very possible Jackson has these wild encounters, however, there is nothing in this story to prove this is a visitation from angels of the Most High God! Check the word! Angels never appear as children – never. All encounters should be proved by the bible, otherwise they are false, demonic!>>

What should parents do?

As time progresses, I think we will discover again and again that we “haven’t seen everything” yet. <<Yes, because in John Paul Jackson’s world, anything goes!>>In the meantime, if your children are playing with invisible friends, talk to them about it. >>Talk with them? Yes, but PRAY with them and take authority over the enemy because God does not send angels to talk with children! So, if your child has a true imaginary friend, you can be sure in the knowledge that it is not a good thing!>> Find out how they feel when they’re playing with them. Do they feel happy? Peaceful? Scared? <<Not good advice – emotions cannot be trusted and satan  can bring false peace, joy, etc!>>If your children show any hesitancy, rephrase your questions and ask again. In most cases, their answers will reveal to you exactly who sent these invisible playmates.

Remember that in biblical times, it was common knowledge that angels sometimes take the visage of the people they protect; <<When?>>why else would the Christians meeting in Mary’s house have thought it was Peter’s angel at the door (Acts 12:12–15)? >>That’s a long shot! They thought Peter was dead and they were astonished (v16). This does not prove his claims!>>I remember being a child and talking to angels who looked like my friends, but I knew they were angels. <<As a child he knew? How? He didn’t know, he was wrong then and he is wrong now!>>They told me what they were, but I also just knew. Your children will likely “just know” as well.

Be open to the possibility that God is communicating to your children via people, objects or animals (remember Balaam’s donkey) only they can see. <<I had to laugh out loud on this one – Balaam’s donkey??  If God is communicating with your child, He will do it the same way that He communicates with you. >>If you raise your children in the way God has set before them, <<If you raise your children to know the bible for themselves they will be better protected against claims and teachings of false prophets like this man!  On the other hand, if you are under the teaching of John Paul Jackson, don’t be surprised when you children really are visited by these demons. Get away!>>they will see and know things that are humanly impossible for them to see and know. They will be able to interact with Heaven, as God intended all of us to do. They will have eyes to see.  <<We know things through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit through treading and studying the bible and prayer, “mundane” things these false prophets and teachers cannot be bothered with, not experiences in the supernatural.

John Paul Jackson has the mistaken belief that because supernatural occurrences happened to people in the bible they should be happening to all believers and that it is the believer’s “right” to –  as he said – interact with Heaven. God always had a reason for these supernatural experiences to happen. They were done for His purposes, to accomplish His plan, with the focus pointing right back to Him. They were not for the purpose of man, nor at the will of man, nor to bring focus to the man. Angels had nothing of themselves, either. They always reflect God’s message and purpose.

John Paul believes we can have these encounters at our will.  He believes he encounters the same Heaven and the very Throne Room where God resides and goes there to “hang out”. Then, he comes back to earth, so to speak, with these wild stories made into teaching products. Who is to say if his encounters really take place. One thing we can be sure of, they are not of God, and so any visits to a throne room is the wrong throne.

If we were intended to have supernatural experiences, if God truly intended for that to happen, then they would. Man was created to be on earth.

Remember, all prophets, angelic visitations and supernatural experiences should point right back to God. Where do these encounters point to? John Paul Jackson’s son Micah, and the beings, not God.  Big difference!

Sneeze The Wrong Way: Meet The New Mommy

Is there a push lately to make us afraid of germs, afraid of each other? I think so!

If we don’t get it together and learn to sneeze correctly the next thing we will be guilty of is a hate crime by way of deliberately spreading germs, namely the H1N1!

Someone please explain to  me how I will blow my nose after sneezing if my nose is tucked into my elbow.

From ABC News:

At a briefing just now, NBC’s Chuck Todd just sneezed into his hand, rather than his arm, prompting the joking disapproval of Health Secretary Sebelius and press secretary Robert Gibbs.

Reporter Sneezes The Wrong Way

Public humiliation! Absolutely ridiculous! Sebelius should apologize to Chuck Todd publicly!

WA State University Reports 2000 With Swine Flu

This is absolutely bizarre that so many can be sick so suddenly, and at a time of the year when hardly anyone is sick, much less with the flu. Two thousand cases and school has only been in session for about a week and a half!  We’ve been hearing about this for months and now here it is!  Makes a person wonder, huh?

About 2,000 students at Washington State University have reported symptoms of swine flu since the fall semester began a week and half ago, representing one of the largest outbreaks of the virus on a U.S. college campus.

“This is really something we haven’t seen before. It’s very unusual to see flu continue to occur over the summer. It’s very unusual to see it start to increase this rapidly in August and September.”

Jesus Appearing?

From killertrumpet

In case we have forgotten-

Todd Bentley reading prophecy given by Wendy Alec (GodTv) in which Jesus says He will come the following night. He never showed up.

Todd yells at God and calls for angels, cheered on by a crowd in the frenzy of demonic deception. They probably showed.

This will probably be my last post on Todd Bentley, at least for now. I put up as much information as I could to warn against the fact that he is getting ready for a return. The word used by him, Rick Joyner and Bill Johnson is “restoration”.  That is a scary notion given the fact that Todd has not changed. The only thing new about him is his wife and his location. He has been primed for this moment and once he gets the podium back more will be led astray and others will continue into deeper deception. I hope and pray you are not one of them.

Todd Bentley’s Holy Spirit Part 2

This is the second section of my take on Todd Bentley’s teaching on the Holy Spirit taken from his website.  Part one can be found here. There is a third teaching on his website, but I have chosen to not bother with it.

Restoring Your Spiritual Prime through Intimacy with God: Pt 2

Part 2: “Cherishing the Holy Spirit”
by Todd Bentley

Oh, for the days when I was in my prime,
when God’s intimate friendship blessed my house.
Job 29:4

Commit these truths to heart:
Matthew 7:7; 1 Corinthians 1:9; John 15:13

This is Part Two of a three part series. If you missed part one, please click here. Many equate the Holy Spirit with power, rather than with relationship. They call upon Him solely for their needs, for the bestowment of supernatural gifts, or an endowment of supernatural power, and not for intimacy, fellowship, partnership, and relationship as well.  Some believers possess only surface knowledge of the Holy Spirit. They feel they know Him but do not. They have knowledge of Him, but they do not know Him as a friend would know a friend. They do not know what He is feeling, or when He is hurt or offended. They do not understand His emotions, or know His character beyond what is generally taught. They know of His works, of His functions, of His capabilities, but they do not know Who He is—the Person of the Holy Spirit. We are never told the Holy Spirit is our friend in the sense that we can enter into a one on one relationship with Him.  Again, Todd is simplifying the Godhead.

Scripture describes the Holy Spirit as having personal characteristics. The Spirit speaks (Acts 8:29; 10:19; 11:12; 21:11; 1 Tim. 4:1; Heb. 3:7). The Spirit may be spoken to, tested, grieved, insulted, or blasphemed (Acts 5:3, 9; Eph. 4:30; Heb. 10:29; Matt. 12:31). The Spirit sometimes uses the personal pronoun “I” (Acts 10:20; 13:2). The Spirit lives (Rom. 8:11; 1 Cor. 3:16), The Spirit guides, calls, commissions, and intercedes (Rom. 8:14, 26; Acts 13:2; 20:28).

The voice of the Spirit of God is as gentle as a summer breeze — so gentle that unless you are living in Complete Fellowship and Oneness with God, you will never hear it.—Oswald Chambers

Do you desire more of the satisfying life? Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37, 38). John explains Jesus’ words further in verse 39 and tells us that by this [rivers of living water], Jesus meant “the Spirit.” The Holy Spirit is the source of our deepest satisfaction. He quenches our thirst. The Spirit lives! God gave us His Spirit so that we can experience intimacy with Him now. (John 16:13-15).  This is a key scripture in understanding the Holy Spirit which would blow Todd’s teaching out of the water and is probably the reason he didn’t explain it. Read the words of Jesus and hear what He is saying against Todd’s claims:

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will tell you things to come.

14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you.

15 All things that the Father has are Mine.  Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Clearly Jesus is teaching that He, the Father, and the Holy Spirit are one. The Holy Spirit does not speak on His own authority.  If that is the case, then how can Todd teach the Holy Spirit has His own personality? He does not and here is the proof.  The Holy Spirit takes what is Jesus’ and declares it.  He has nothing of His own separate from that of God.  Not personality, not emotions, not thoughts or ideas. Nothing. He is God’s Spirit. And though Todd is able to call the Holy Spirit the Spirit of God, he is not able to define Him properly.

Our Advantage

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (John 14:26).

How wonderful it would be to walk with the Savior in the flesh as the disciples did. Imagine three and a half years of close friendship with Jesus. They ate, slept, traveled, studied, and ministered with the Man Jesus. Side-by-side with the Redeemer, they witnessed Him feed the five thousand, raise the dead, and with sometimes just a word, heal the sick and cast out demons. Jesus, before He went away said,

“But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:5–7).

What is an advantage? It is plus and gain, improvement, help, benefit. What was that advantage? It was the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, (paraphrased), “I will send you a Helper and Teacher. He is the Spirit of truth. He proceeds from the Father. He will testify of Me, He will give you more” (John 15:26). No, the scripture does not state the Holy Spirit will give us more. Read it – But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.   End of scripture – there is nothing there said about “giving more.”

The disciples, as they walked with Jesus did not have the “advantage” that we have. They did not yet have the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit. They walked with this Man of flesh, as they walked with their brothers, sisters, or friends. Their hearts were not yet made the spiritual temples God created to enter into. The Holy Spirit had not yet come to fill them. They likely could not feel the glory   (with the exception of the Mount of Transfiguration experience),  as we do.  No, no. Jesus was fully man and fully God. We are not “advantaged” in that the disciples lacked a thing! They had God right there with them in human form – Emmanuel – and clearly the Holy Spirit was there too.

It is clear that Jesus says the Holy Spirit is inside of Him, but that He is also in addition to Him. The Holy Spirit is One just like Jesus (One what, just like Jesus?) and will do in Jesus’ absence what Jesus would do if He were physically with us. Yes, that is the point of His coming AFTER Jesus left the earth. The Holy Ghost is the Greatest Evangelist. No, I don’t think the Holy Spirit is ever described that way in the bible.  It is up to man to preach, to evangelize and the Holy Spirit empowers us to do so. But the Holy Spirit is not the evangelist! He is a helper. He is One who is called alongside. He is Intercessor, Comforter, Helper, Advocate, and Counselor. He is the One who counsels what to do, when to do it, how to do it, whom to pray for, how to pray for, and He provides words of knowledge, and accurate details.  Watch out for this. What accurate details and if we are going on biblical description, where is the one that refers to accurate details?

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Cor. 13:14).

12The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).  Amplified

12 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.NKJV

In the final words of Second Corinthians chapter 13, Paul wants us to know three things: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion (fellowship) of the Spirit (v.14, emphasis mine). Grace, love, communion! What Paul was saying was “May you have a revelation of the grace of Jesus, the love of God (talking about the Father), and not just revelation of the Holy Spirit, but communion and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.”

Not so, according to Matthew Henry Commentary Volume 6, pages 646-647. This is an apostolic benediction which was usual and proper to dismiss worshiping assemblies. This plainly proves the doctrine of the gospel, and is an acknowledgment that the Father, Son and Spirit are three distinct persons, yet one God.  To live in a continual regard to the three persons in the Trinity, into whose name we were baptized, and in whose name we are blessed. This is a very solemn benediction, and we should give all diligence to inherit this blessing.  The grace of Christ, the love of God and the communion (or communication) of the Holy Ghost; the grace of Christ as Redeemer, the love of God who sent the Redeemer, and all the communications of this grace and love, which come to us by the Holy Ghost.

For Paul to say what he said, he had to have known the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. He was talking about something beyond operating in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Where is the biblical basis for Todd’s reasoning here? The passage did not say the communion of the Father, or of Jesus, but of the Holy Spirit “May the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” The word “communion” here is referred to in the Greek text as koininia. Again, the scripture is making a point, the three are one, and each has a place in the life of the believer. There is not a hidden meaning here!

Communion in this context means unity, a close association, fellowship, close bond, or a partnership. The underlying message is sharing. Therefore, Paul was saying then, “May you experience and share the intimate bond, the closeness, the unity, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.” Paul infers there is something a whole lot deeper to the Holy Ghost and to the anointing and the gifts of the Spirit. He is saying that we can know koininia with Him and alongside of Him.

The Holy Spirit should not be viewed as a separate individual away from the Godhead. Paul is not talking about communication with the Holy Spirit as an individual. He is speaking of communion with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is admonishing those present that the Three are One and should be understood that way.

Todd Bentley is on a rabbit trail of his own making here and is far from the true biblical concept of the Holy Spirit.

I have koininia relationship with the Holy Spirit. I dialogue with Him constantly. We have a bond so close, I cannot even describe it. We share, talk, ask questions of each other, and communicate openly. I ask Him questions and He gives me answers, and vice-versa. There is freedom in our fellowship. He is like a close buddy and confidante and accompanies me everywhere. I keep in step with Him (Galatians 5:25). I do not have to wait for Him to come upon me, or manifest in some way, I just know He is there.

There is no biblical foundation that the Holy Spirit communicates this way. The Holy Spirit is God, not our new best pal. This is an example of a charismaniac’s claim that he has spent so much time with God he has now attained a knowledge of Him that is deeper and more intimate than that of the average believer.

After I read Benny Hinn’s book, Good Morning Holy Spirit, many years ago, I was already filled with the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, and moving in the gifts of the Spirit, but I began to understand that there was something that I did not have and that was intimacy with the Lord.  Benny Hinn is another false teacher! So, we have the blind leading the blind. I did not know the Holy Spirit beyond the giftings or teachings I had received. I knew His work, and His presence, but I did not know His character. I spent six months delving into every Scripture verse I could find and studied Him in depth. It created a hunger in me to know Him as close as a brother knows a brother, as a husband knows a wife, and I pursued Him with every ounce of strength I possessed. And if that is so true, then how did you make such a mess of this teaching? Could it be that your experience with the demonic has overthrown all of your biblical research?

Time in His Presence

After work, I would lock myself in my room for hours and hours a day. There, I would lift my hands and cry out to Him, “Holy Spirit come—please, I want to know You. The Holy Spirit is promised to all believers. We do not have to ask for Him to come, This is another erroneous belief taught by charismaniacs, to pray for the Spirit to come. He has already come! He is sent by God the Father as we read earlier! I am not satisfied only with Your power. I want to know You more than operate in the gifts.” It is prayers or demands such as this that brings the demon into play. When we step out of being satisfied with what God intended for us to have, and think there is more to know, more to learn and to experience, we have stepped out of His perfect will. Wham, I would be under the power vibrating as though somebody had plugged me into an electrical circuit. I would weep, vibrate, and shake, and the charged atmosphere afterward lingered. Electrical vibrating power is not evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Again, there is no scripture to support this. Try Galatians 5:22-23, the fruits of the Holy Spirit – kindness, gentleness, self control. This “power surge” Todd equates to God simply is not. Cry out and demand something from God that He is not willing to give, or out of the bound of biblical teaching, do it long enough, and something else will certainly show up. Be very careful to NOT walk in the footsteps of this false teacher. He is creating a desire for you to have what he has, which, my friend, is not something you want to be involved with!

I could not wait to get home after work every day because the Holy Spirit would be there waiting for me. That’s funny. I thought the Spirit of God resided in Todd as a believer. Why would He be “waiting” for him any where?  Not biblical. I was so excited about this relationship, new intimacy, and closeness. Relationship with the Holy Spirit was beyond anything I had encountered, beyond the anointing and the moving in the gifts. As soon as I would open the door to my room, it was as though the Holy Spirit was sitting there like a kid at Christmas waiting for me to get home from work so we could spend time together in His presence.

“Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil” —Ecclesiastes 5:1.  Fitting words of advice for one who gives the sacrifice of fools and practices evil unknowingly!

Knowing who He is requires spending time in His presence and getting to know Him on an intimate level. It is not at all unlike living with a person, such as a wife, husband, or sibling. It is a partnership and a fellowship; we confide, make decisions, encourage, and champion each other! We eat, sleep, talk and have fun together; such is my relationship with the Holy Spirit, my precious Friend. He does not have to tell me when He’s grieved, or touched, I feel and sense it. I encourage Him and champion Him, “I love You, and honor You, Holy Spirit, I love the way Your Presence feels, I love to hear Your voice, I love to wake up in the morning and feel You flow through my body like electricity, I love that!” We make plans, and I will say, “We’re going to Africa, Holy Spirit, isn’t that awesome? I cannot wait to present the Gospel with You. It’s You and I, Holy Ghost, and we’re going to bring signs and wonders to the people!” I often include the Holy Spirit in my Bible time. I just say, “Holy Spirit, look at this verse, look what Jesus did, and You were right there! The blind man’s eyes opened, wow.” This was koininia time.  Todd is not experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are not told anything about Him having emotions or that we will experience, feel or sense His emotions. What is this “championing” thing?  God needs encouragement now? More electrical currents. Not God. No way.

Yes, God is with us always, but the manifest presence of God is Whom we seek in intimacy. Wrong. Well, only partly if you are seeking intimacy with a demon. Fellowship and partnership with the Holy Spirit is heaven touching earth in the natural plane of our lives. Whatever that means, but it sounds New Agey to me, heaven touching earth in the natural plane…????

A “With You” Presence

“You know Him. For He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:17b)

The Holy Spirit is with us and in us. This “with us” presence is the communion, the koininia. We already know that the Holy Spirit is within us, but do we really understand that He is with us? One day, I opened the door of my apartment to leave, and I felt His presence with me. His presence followed me down the hall and into the elevator, and out of the building. Sometimes as I drive, I will sense someone has joined me, and discover He is sitting sidesaddle with me and I will suddenly become overwhelmed with joy.

Paul Yonggi Cho is the pastor of the world’s largest church of almost a million people, in South Korea. He claims that he does not do anything without the Holy Spirit. In fact, this is his greatest revelation.

It is amazing how everything in the Bible revolves around the Person of the Holy Ghost. Creation did not even happen without Him. God sent forth His Spirit and created. The Holy Spirit was involved in creating and sustaining all life (Gen. 1:2; Job 33:4; 34:14). He was involved throughout Jesus’ life, too. Jesus did not do anything without Him. The Spirit caused His conception (Matt. 1:2), descended on Him at His Baptism (Matt. 3:16), led Him into the desert (Luke 4:1), and anointed and gave Him power to preach the Gospel (Luke 4:18). Jesus drove out demons by the Spirit (Matt. 12:28), and even died on the Cross with Him (Heb. 9:14). That same Holy Spirit raised him raised from the dead (Rom 8:11). Not one thing in Jesus’ life took place without the Holy Spirit. Not one miracle. Not His birth, not His ministry, not His death. The Holy Spirit was with Him always. Jesus was completely dependant on Him. Jesus was a Man as totally dependant upon God as we are. He was tempted in every way as we are. The only thing different that Jesus had that we do not is total dependence, obedience, brokenness, and yieldedness to the Holy Ghost. That same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in and with us and we are invited to know Him intimately. How sweet is that?

O Cherish Him!

John 14:15 says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Why? The answer is in the very next verse, and it is because: “I am about to send you another helper” (paraphrased, v. 16). Listen, Jesus is about to pray for the Holy Ghost to come, but the first thing He says before the Holy Ghost comes is to keep His commandments, because the key to more of the Holy Spirit manifesting in your life is obedience. In order for this other Helper to help, we have to keep God’s commandments. That is a twist on what Jesus said which is IF we love Him we will keep His commandments and then He goes on to say He will send the Helper, the Holy Spirit, which is not the same as what Todd says. We don’t get the Holy Spirit because we keep the commandments. If that were true there would have been no need of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” —Isaiah 30:21 I find it strange that Todd throws in these scriptures from time to time that have nothing to do with what he is actually saying. Maybe it makes him look more spiritual to his deceived followers.

The more yielded, emptier, broken, and obedient we can become, the more the power of the Holy Spirit can flow in our lives. This is only half true. The more yielded we are to God and His will, the more He can work in our lives. This is different than Todd’s claim of more power. He is wrong in that. His power is the same for all of us. My Holy Ghost is not different from Jesus’. Jesus does not have a Holy Spirit!!  The Holy Spirit IS Jesus, IS God!  I do not have a smaller Holy Ghost than He did. He is putting Jesus on the same level as man, a method of creating a God of understanding, one that is convenient, rather than understanding God. My children’s Holy Ghost is not a junior Holy Ghost. What are junior are our levels of dependence, obedience, and yieldedness. Our shortcomings in those areas are a form of godliness that denies the power. The Holy Spirit cannot penetrate our lives in power if we deny it.  More strange statements not supported by scripture. God knows that we are weak sinners and chose to work with us anyway!

The Holy Spirit is twenty-four-hour-a-day God consciousness. Not biblical. The Holy Spirit is many things to us, guide, comforter, etc. but at no time is He ever referred to as a 24 hour God consciousness. He brings back what was lost in the Garden with Adam because of sin. Not true!  And Todd should know better here. Jesus Christ died for our sin, and it was the work of the cross that restores the relationship between God and man, upon our repentance of course! He does what Jesus would have done in His place. Jesus Christ had His specific work as does the Holy Spirit. They are not substitutes for the other. But the Holy Spirit multiplies it, that’s why Jesus said that it is to our advantage that the Holy Spirit comes. Multiplies what? Jesus didn’t say the Holy Spirit was coming to multiply anything! Sounds like one of Kim Clement’s rants.
The Holy Spirit’s Emotions
The Holy Spirit has feelings and emotions. There are things that grieve Him, wound Him, and hurt Him. We are warned about grieving the Holy Sprit, but we are not given scripture that the Holy Spirit has emotions. Likewise, there are things that cause Him to laugh and bring Him great pleasure. The Holy Spirit is the sensitive communicator of the emotion of God. He is sensitive, emotional (in a wonderful way!), expressive, passionate, responsive, open, and quick to respond. He loves to be “romanced,” loves intimacy, and loves to be loved and told that He is loved often. Even though He knows we love Him, He yearns to hear it over and over again. Nope. We are not told the Holy Spirit is emotional or responsive to emotion or that we are to romance Him! This is intimacy gone wrong.

The Holy Spirit knows that you know that He is there, and He knows that you are there, Good because He is God, so I am glad to know He knows I am here. but He still wants you to acknowledge Him, think of Him, honor Him, cherish Him, woo Him, and be attentive to Him. Not only when you need Him for something; but simply because you want to be in His company; with Him, near Him. He deserves special treatment…your intimate, undivided attention. He desires koininia with you and asks, “How much do you love Me?” God wants us to spend time with him, but we are not told to spend time with the Holy Spirit or “woo” Him or give Him attention in the manner Todd is describing.
Grieving and Blaspheming the Holy Spirit
Most married men I know are protective of their wives. If someone says or does something wrong toward their wives; that protectiveness kicks in faster than you can say “Methuselah.” God the Father and Jesus are protective of the Holy Spirit in much the same way, because the Holy Spirit is the one who gets hurt, wounded, or grieved, they watch out for Him all of the time. WHAT?  Where does he get this idea that God and Jesus protect the Holy Spirit?

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”—Matthew 6:21.
The “With You” Presence

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:30, not to grieve the Holy Spirit. It means, do not wound Him, do not hurt Him, and do not cause Him pain. No, this is not what it means. In this context we look at the verse prior which is about speaking. We are told to not grieve the Holy Spirit with our words in dealing with others. Our words should reflect the way we are taught to live. Only someone with feelings can be wounded or hurt and experience pain. The Holy Spirit does not feel pain the way a man would. Again, Todd has put God on man’s level. One way not to grieve Him is to realize who or what He is not. The Holy Spirit is not an “it.” It  grieves the Holy Spirit when we do what is contrary to His holy nature. He is not a power, and He is not an anointing. He is not “the gift” of the Holy Spirit, (funny, earlier in this writing Todd said the Holy Spirit IS a gift!) He is not revival, He is not the shaking, and He is not the falling over. No, He is not the shaking and falling over because these are not actions of our God! He is a person whom you can hurt, wound, and grieve. He is the ‘with you’ presence.
Isaiah 63:10 tells us “They [children of Israel] rebelled and grieved [vexed] His Holy Spirit, so He turned Himself against them as an enemy and He fought against them.” God as an enemy is a serious ramification, and we are not to take this lightly. The word vexed means tormented. The Israelites grieved Him; caused Him hurt, pain, wounded and tormented Him. Todd reads into the scripture meaning that is not there. Of course God is grieved when we rebel but Todd is using this scripture to prove what? That we are responsible for changing God’s emotions by “wooing” or “championing” Him?

To understand the importance of the Holy Spirit to the Father, imagine the Holy Spirit as the emotions of the Godhead. He is the one Who expresses feeling. He is the mushy gushy. No. He is not the mushy gushy. He is not the ooey gooey Love God as we are told to love the Lord with all our hearts and SOULS and MINDS. We can’t just carve out the love part of it and be done, there is much more and it all ties together! You cannot feel the love of God without Him, nor can you feel His presence without the Holy Ghost. Okay, where is scripture does it say we feel the presence of God? This is another place of danger – the physical presence of feeling God. You cannot even say that Jesus is Lord without Him. He is the one who enables us to feel God’s presence and hear His voice, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says” (Rev. 2:7). Everything comes through the Spirit. The Spirit is the communicator of the voice of God and the emotion of God. That is why God and Jesus are so protective. Again, this body guard thing! Where does it say in the bible that God and Jesus protect the Holy Spirit? There is something so precious, dear, and wonderful about Him. They do not want Him wounded and grieved. The word grieve means to cause pain, torment, and wounding.  Do not do that to the Holy Ghost. Do not wound Him. Bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking grieve Him (Eph. 4: 31). Kindness toward one another, tender-heartedness, forgiving one another even as God in Christ forgave you (v. 32) pleases Him immensely. So does right teaching, Todd!
Protecting the Holy Spirit
The Father and Jesus are so protective of the Holy Ghost, that the Bible tells us that the one unpardonable sin is to blaspheme against Him (Mark 3:28, 29). It is the one and only sin without forgiveness. It is not blasphemy against the Father, or the Son, but against the Holy Ghost. What sets Him apart? Why Him? Why so protective over His emotions? The bible does not state that the warning against blasphemy is to protect against the emotions of the Holy Spirit, but it does say, and Todd is right, that it will NOT be forgiven.

The Holy Spirit is a revelator. He is the revealer. He reveals to you the love of God.
“Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Cor. 12:3b).
The Spirit comes and manifests to you the love that Jesus has for you.  This is NOT what the quoted scripture says, so why does he throw it out there as though it does? He manifests to you the love and the forgiveness that is in the Father because Jesus satisfied the holy wrath that was in the Father demanding that sins be paid for.  Upon man’s repentance! That is why the Holy Spirit is so precious that God tells us not to grieve Him. That is why the Father is so protective of the Holy Ghost. And, that is why Jesus said that every blaspheme against the Father, every blaspheme against the Son shall be forgiven, but not against the Holy Ghost. We aren’t told the “why” in this, only that it will not be forgiven.

It is sad, but some of us use the Holy Spirit. We just want the Holy Ghost and His anointing because of what those things can do for us or our ministries, the miracles, the giftings, and the prophecies that are going to open doors and opportunities for us.  This sounds like he believes the Holy Spirit is required to work in these ministries. He is not. We cannot “use” Him as He is not at our beck and call. We are using the Holy Spirit. Stop! This grieves Him. We need to become His resting place.  Another statement that does not make sense.  I thought God is OUR resting place!

Gentle as a Dove
“Then he sent out a dove from him, to see if the water was abated from the face of the land; but the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, so she returned to him into the ark; for the water was on the surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the ark to himself. So he waited yet another seven days; and again he sent out the dove from the ark. And the dove came to him toward evening; and behold, in her beak was a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was abated from the earth” (Gen. 8:8-11, NAS).

The so called teaching in this section is so bizarre it is hard to determine what he is trying to say, and harder to straighten out.

Think of the nature of the dove. They are gentle, and peaceful in the natural, and then, whoosh they fly away when something disturbs or startles them. Here is another contradiction. Todd claims the Holy Spirit is gentle, which we know is true as He is described that way in the bible. Why then, does he believe that the same Holy Spirit would cause him such wild physical manifestations that are far from gentle!  This does not make sense! If we want the Holy Spirit to rest on us with the olive leaf, then we have to stop sinning, stop grieving, and stop hurting the Holy Spirit. I don’t see a real connection between the story above and the Holy Spirit with an olive leaf. I don’t think there is one. The olive leaf in the story was to show the water had receded, exactly how the scripture explains it. So, I don’t know where Todd is picking up on some spiritual meaning here! Every time we sin, whoosh, the Holy Spirit lifts. He does not depart from us, but the manifest presence does. I don’t know of a scripture that teaches we have 2 types of presence of the Holy Spirit, but this is a familiar teaching with charismaniacs. In addition, the Holy Spirit is not some weak, flighty scared bird that will “fly away” at the first presence of sin. The “with you” presence flies away, figuratively speaking. If we want the Holy Spirit to rest, we have to avoid quick movements, those quick movements that fulfill our flesh. More strangeness. Why would He leave from a “quick movement’? Do you want to be a resting place for the Holy Spirit? Do you want the Holy Spirit, the dove of God to rest on you with that olive leaf in His mouth? Why does He need this leaf in His mouth? Fall in love with Jesus and have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, because if you truly know the Holy Spirit, you will become quickly convicted and aware of those things that startle, wound, or hurt Him. No, the true message of the gospel is to recognize that you are a sinner separated from God  and in need of Jesus Christ. Repent and turn your life over to Jesus. Then, the Lord will send the Holy Spirit who will comfort you, teach you and guide you into all truth. (minus the olive leaf)  There is nothing scriptural about “falling in love with” Jesus, although we do love Him! (We love Him because He first loved us! 1 John 4:19)  It is curious that Todd has this idea that the Holy Spirit can be hurt like a person hurts.  This just is not true biblically. God does grieve and is saddened, in our bad behavior and sin, but let’s get this into perspective!

Wooing the Holy Spirit
Ignoring the Holy Spirit, grieves Him. Let us say I come over to your house and you lead me to the couch and say that you love me and that we are friends. I sit there all day long, and you know I am there, but you run around and do all the things that you need to do in your house, with barely a glance my way. You do not acknowledge I am there, even though you know in your busyness that I am. How would you feel if I invited you over to my house and did the same thing? This is the tendency of the Church with the Holy Spirit. We say, “Come Holy Spirit, come into my church and sit in that pew right there. When I need the anointing, a prophetic word, power or blessing, I’ll call on you, but until then, just sit.”

The Holy Spirit loves romance and loves to hear that you love Him. It is not enough to acknowledge that He is inside of you, but that He is with you. He wants that eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart close contact. He wants the intimacy. He knows that you love Him but wants to hear it. “Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” —Psalm 115:1
He wants to hear you say, “Holy Spirit, I love You, Come on over, sit with me!”  Again, we are not taught in scripture to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, much less treat Him as tho we are in a romance together. Intimacy is important, but it must be appropriate! And there are some who have crossed this line even worse than Todd’s teaching. Beware!
Note from the Ministry Team: This is Part Two of a multi-part teaching, and we invite you to visit our website often, or sign up to receive the remainder of this teaching by email. As always, know that we are praying for you, and particularly as you identify those things in your life that keep you from spending quality time with the Precious Holy Spirit! We love you, and we cherish you! Available in our resource center, Todd’s “Marinating…Pickling in God’s Presence” soaking CD, which is sure to take you into the glory and presence of God! Pickling, another word for “intoxication or being drunk in the spirit.”  Not something taught in the Word of God.
“God who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord is faithful.” —1 Corinthians 1:9

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” —John 15:13.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” —Matthew 7:7.

Whew! There you have the confused, extra-biblical teachings of a heretic. Beware.

Todd Bentley’s Holy Spirit

This teaching on the Holy Spirit by Todd Bentley is taken directly off his new website.  It is three sections; however, I am only working with the first two. If you want to read the third you will need to go directly to his website. I have left the original work intact, so not to violate his precious copyright, and gone through it line by line. First to show you his error and why I warn against him, and second to show you how easy it is to spot false teaching with a little effort.  The first clue to a false teaching is how closely is sounds to the word of God. Close but not quite there, and not quite there makes it false.  I believe that trusting in and supporting false doctrine will lead to demonic possession.

This is part one of two.

Restoring Your Spiritual Prime through Intimacy with God

Part 1 – The “US” Team
by Todd Bentley

Commit these truths to heart:
Genesis 3:22; John 14:16, 17; John 17:3; 1 John 5:8; 1 Corinthians 2:4, 5; 2 Corinthians 13:14;

Oh, for the days when I was in my prime, when God’s intimate friendship blessed my house. – Job 29:4

This is by no means a full study on the Person of the Holy Spirit—it is just an appetizer to whet your appetite for intimacy with Him. The Word of God, time spent with Him, and time spent with God chasers who know and love Him will grow you in the knowledge of our Precious Spirit of God. I have written this especially for those who have already asked Jesus into their hearts as personal Lord and Savior, believing that God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whosever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life (see John 3:16). But my heart is that you do know Jesus if you haven’t yet surrendered your life to Him, because once you do, Jesus has a gift waiting for you—the precious Holy Spirit! He will teach, counsel, lead, guide, and love on you as no other, and He will draw you into His radical fiery love. I have a great message about how to know Jesus on my ministry website, As you grow in intimacy, mature in the Word, you will come to experience Him and the Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus to your heart, the heart of the Father for the Son and the Son for the Father and their affection for you. You do know that God loves you, right?

This section about salvation is so right on that it baffles me how exactly he can get the rest of it so goofed up.  I wonder if he is the actual author or if others write for him under his name. There are many contradictions in this document. At one point towards the ending of part two much of it reads more like a six year old was speaking than it did a teaching of a grown man. H becomes very focused on the emotions and pain experienced by the Holy Spirit and some strange idea that God and Jesus are protectors of Him. It is full of confusion and mixed thoughts and ideas with very little clarity, even for a false teaching.

Todd is way off in his understanding of the Holy Spirit which gives explanation as to why he is so off in his ministry. I am sorry to say, and I am sure it is of no surprise to most of us, but saved or not he is under the influence of a demonic presence. This explains the bizarre behavior and methods he attributed to the leading of the Holy Spirit at Lakeland last year and other occurrences throughout his ministry.

His upcoming “come-back” scheduled for Sept 10 via the computer is the reason I am putting out so much information about him. Many have been deceived and will continue to be unless someone pulls the wool off their eyes, so to speak. His website, the videos, and teachings such as this one proves that he is the same old Todd, given to the same false and dangerous ideas as he’s always had.

Now, More Than Ever Before

Jesus said in Luke chapter 12 that it is the Father’s desire to give His children the Kingdom. If that was true then, how could it be different today? Actually, we should probably be moving in even greater levels of intimacy with the Father as we see the burgeoning and urgent need for demonstrations of the power of God so much more.

I have designed this teaching to spur you to intimacy, and to encourage you to seek to deepen your own personal relationship with God’s Radiant Glory. Where are we told that we are to have a relationship with God’s GLORY?

As you pursue friendship and spend time with Him, you will be able to recognize His presence, His voice, and His instruction, and will experience an increase in the release of Holy Spirit power and boldness in testifying of God’s love, and in ministering the gift and grace of salvation and healing to others. Jesus Himself said “And this is eternal life, that they may know [experience] Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent” (John 17:3).  We know God through His word, not through an experience and this scripture does not use the word “experience”, Todd has added that in to make is point.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is urging us to believe and trust God for a deeper relationship than ever before that will see us pressing in and ahead in love with God to release the power of the Kingdom in the earth!  We’ve seen what Todd’s pressing in has done for the Kingdom.

Growing in love with God by His Spirit is the most precious, exciting, refreshing, and exhilarating experience that I have ever known apart from the first blush love experience of salvation. Blush love? The word blush described in Websters as a rosiness in the cheeks caused from shame, guilt or embarrassment. Sound like something of God’s doing? NO

Whoa, thank You Precious Lord! If this teaching compels you to dive deeper into the waters of grace through relationship and communion with the very Spirit of God, and experience all that, praise God! If because of that intimacy, you do experience a greater release of the power of God in your life and in ministry to others, Praise God and Amen!

He is my Best Friend and the Love of My Life and it is an honor to introduce Him to you as an intimate friend. Excuse me?  Todd is not responsible, nor is any person, for introducing the believer to the Holy Spirit, God does that! Your friendship with Him may look a little different from mine, but trust that He will meet your heart’s yearnings in ways you cannot imagine, and He will never disappoint you. Treat Him well; be kind and gentle, and generous with your time. He is so precious. Todd makes Him sound like a new pet.

The “US” Team

How would you describe your Christian life? Are you satisfied with it, or do you hunger for more in your relationship with God? Chances are if you have experienced the Person of the Holy Spirit, you will want more because each encounter only scrapes the surface of what we can encounter in the glory of God,  God does not share his glory with man, we do not encounter it. no matter how much the Holy Spirit saturates us with His presence. Even more than you desire His presence, His heart yearns to commune with you and cries out, “Don’t go away—don’t be satisfied without My presence!”  The Holy Spirit dwells within us. How can he “go away”?

The apostle Paul writes, “The [intimate fellowship] of the Holy Spirit be with you” (2 Cor. 13:14),  my bible reads GRACE, not intimate fellowship and that’s precisely the key to an increasingly satisfying Spirit-filled life, a life hungry and desperate for encounters with and intimate knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Desperate for a relationship with God and to know God is a good thing. But watch out before you cross the line as we are not taught in the bible to be desperate for an “encounter” or “intimate knowledge” of the Holy Spirit. We are only given so much knowledge and many things God has hidden from us that are not for us to know.  This desperation can lead your right into a demonic playground full of false visions and experiences not of God the Father!  And false teachers like Todd Bentley will convince you, as he has himself that you are encountering the Holy Spirit. You are not. Read the bible to find out who the Holy Spirit is and His function in the life of a believer. Be careful!

“And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one” (1 John 5:8).

The three that bear record in heaven are not three Gods, but three in One, and each are an expression of God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. To know God is to know there are three Persons in the Godhead. To know God is to know the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. To know God is to understand that God is three Personalities, and in order to grasp His fullness, we have to have intimacy and communion, and relate to each one. To grasp the understanding of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, read about them in the word of God! Though they are the same in unity and purpose, and do everything in oneness, they are still three Persons. As Christians, we seek to know God the Father, and God the Son, but in seeking the Holy Spirit, we tend to seek only the power and infilling He offers and provides, and not the relationship. We are not told to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is God. The relationship given to us is with the Father, through the Son and the Holy Spirit is our guide, our counselor, and comforter and teacher. But we are not told to pursue a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Through our time getting to know the Father, we learn through the Son, that He is not a God in heaven with a gavel hammering down judgment.   OH? God has not given up His place as a righteous Judge, and judge He will! Instead, we learn more of His character and come to know Him as Abba Daddy Father. He is our Father because of salvation, not because we have designed some way of coming to “know” Him. We can come to know the Father even more intimately by coming to know the character and Person of the Holy Spirit as well. Wrong again. The Holy Spirit is no less significant than the Father or Jesus, He is equal to them, and we must know the fullness of the Holy Spirit as fully as we know the Father and Jesus. I know and love all of my children the same, yet each have different and separate personalities that I have to take the time to get to know. They each have distinct characteristics and ways of expressing themselves. So it is true in the Godhead, three Persons, each different, but all equal in power. One does nothing apart from the other. The Godhead cannot be explained as though three children.  Each person of the Godhead IS God.  Each child is a separate person – not the same and not a good measure to use for comparison.

Jesus told his disciples that they have seen the Father as they have seen Him. He is called “Emmanuel, God with us”! He sent the Holy Spirit to abide with us, but the Holy Spirit does not work of his own. He does not have his own personality, but the personality and characteristics of God. Jesus said “he will take what is mine and reveal it to you”.  This is a great mystery that we can only understand in part. Be careful, Todd is putting God on a level with man.

All three Persons of the Godhead were involved in our creation. Genesis 1:26a reveals, “God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness’.” This infers that it wasn’t just the Father. If “God” said, then the Holy Spirit, the Father, and Jesus all decided at the same time, in effect, “Hey! Let’s make man in Our image.” Again, we have an account in Genesis 3:22, “Then the Lord God said, “Behold the man has become like one of Us.” Who’s us? Again, it is one God, but three Persons. It’s “Us.” In Genesis 11:7, the “Us,” the three-in-One are referenced again, “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language.”

It is teamwork. They were a team from the very beginning, and they are a team in our salvation. To explain, let me paraphrase what happened. The Father demanded payment for sin, and Jesus said, “I’ll pay for it” and the Holy Ghost said, “Not without me.” In effect, the Father said, “I miss the fellowship that I had with Adam and Eve. I miss being able to go down and walk in the cool of the day with them. I miss the intimacy and the glory that we shared. Do you know what? Now I am angry and My holy wrath demands justice on sin because the wages of sin is death. I need something to take the payment and the atonement for these people that I so desire to commune with. I have to have justice even at the same time I desire fellowship. But if I were to go to fellowship with them now, My fire would consume them.” Not exactly so, since God had a relationship with man before the death and resurrection of Jesus. He was very close to Moses and Noah, and Abraham, etc.

Then Jesus all of a sudden stands ?? and says, “Father, I’ll go. Because I love You, Father, and because I see the aching of Your heart for Your people. Father, I will go to the earth. I will suffer, die, and become the atonement for all those so that they can be restored into the likeness and the image of Us, and have that intimacy with You that You miss.”  It is believed that God had this plan going on way before the fall back before the very foundation of the world.  It wasn’t something they just all “came up with” like a plan B.  God knows all things and knew that man would fall in the garden and would need a savior. Hence the prophecy in Genesis 3.

But the Holy Spirit interjects and says, “Uh-uh, uh-uh uh, You’re not going Jesus, unless I go too.”What a cute scenario. Where is THIS conversation in the infallible word of God?? Besides, the Holy Spirit did exist as the third person of the trinity, He did not indwell in the believer until AFTER Jesus left the earth. So the “Us” team have a conference and make the decision together to restore fellowship and bring us back to the place where we could taste of their glory. NO  – we do not taste of the Lord’s glory. And, this same Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit who worked alongside the Father and Jesus in creating you, invites you to know Him beyond knowing His power.
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth …You know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. —John 14: 16, 17

Life is so full and busy for all of us, but the call of God toward intimacy also increases. Nothing trumps an intimate love relationship with God! He is jealous, yes, jealous for your affection (see Exodus 34:14), Let’s go there and read it – for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Nothing said here about an intimate love relationship or affection, but a command to worship God for He is Jealous! and does not want contenders for your heart! In Part Two, we will explore the Person of the Holy Spirit, and why He is so precious and vital to us.  The Holy Spirit is not to be treated as a separate person. He is not to be called on, prayed to, or commanded. He is God. In the meantime, I challenge you to identify the contenders that vie for your affection, those little foxes that busy you away from God, and think of, even list on a piece of paper so that you won’t forget,  ways to construct your life to accommodate a passionate pursuit of fellowship with Him! Those who know His name will lean on and confidently put their trust in Him. The Lord will not forsake those who seek Him! (see Psalm 42:1).
