I love this and took it off a friend’s blog – Now Through A Glass Darkly
Elijah Is Fed
Does only splendid light hide You? This
dreadful body of death covers as well;
such heaviness since I said, “I, only I, am left,
who follow you wholly!” Such darkness
from self-martyrdom and man-fearing!
Now I am abandoned, forsaken,
facing fierce wickedness, alone.
Except for traitor memory that
dredges up my Jezebels– again!
And do I forget that You are
not in fire, not in wind, not in tremors?
No, only in this delicious stillness
that rescues a humbled man;
So I fall into the splendor
of the Father; in His embrace
exchange impoverishment for
promised rest, a prophet’s mantle
for nourishment of bread.
Another is anointed to wonders;
I am taken up by a Voice that feeds.
Goodness, i thought you had stopped writing!

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid himself down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for you. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
(1Ki 19:4-8)
Our journey is also too great for us, but for the grace and power of God in Christ.
