Eye Witness of the Imposter

2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye witnesses of his majesty. (emphasis mine)

This scripture came up by a commenter here  who recently left her church because the Lord showed her the error in the teaching of Bill Johnson, Bethel Church in Redding, CA that so many are mesmerized by. In her comment to me she made the distinction between the eye witnesses of Jesus Christ and the eye witnesses of the imposter.

Peter was an eye witness to the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  That would be Jesus of Nazareth, the only Son of the Most High God, the Messiah, the promised One. Much of the writing of the bible came from those who were eye witnesses to who and what He was, His methods, His compassion, His authority, His forgiveness. They tell us they witnessed these things so that we would believe their testimony and believe on Him who they testified of.  An eye witness is considered credible and believed. If not, then God would have found another way to prove the testimony of Jesus is true.  But He chose to get His message across through a group of very plain, every day people. These things considered true and worthy are written in the bible so that those who read will believe. This is stated in John 20:31..but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Those who walked with Jesus side by side, those who spoke to him face to face were the eye witnesses of His majesty. It is because of their faithfulness that Christianity flourished in the way it did. Not in the way man would consider success, but in the way God designed it to be. I believe it is God’s will that all men, women and children all over the world would come to know Jesus Christ as their savior, the one who gave His innocent and perfect life for theirs. I don’t think God wants anyone to be lost, but it is by their own choosing that they are.

Those of us who have found ourselves caught up in the false revival, in the false charismatic or what I call “charismania”, in the word of faith movement, in healing room ministries, in manifest sons of God, in dominion or kingdom now theology, prophetic ministry,  or in the emergent/contemplative church, have traded the true Jesus of Nazareth for an imposter. We have traded the pure and simplistic message of the gospel for a one that is not only false, but one without purpose or direction, one that teaches most anything goes or that it is impossible to be deceived. One that is indeed a doctrine of demons set out to separate you from the God who died for you. One that you will surely burn in hell with. Why? Because you participate in their wickedness – see 2 John 8-11 and according to Revelation 21:8 all liars will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone. Those who bring another gospel other than the one given by the disciples in the bible are liars. Simple.

Those of us who have come out of those cults or doctrines of demons are eye witnesses to their dangerous, seductive teachings and methods of revival, worship, intercession, impartation and prophesy.  Indeed, it is by the grace of God that we were saved out from them.  If you are reading this and you are involved in any of these cults, this is your warning to listen, pay attention to what is being spoken to you, or imparted to you, or prayed over you and take that information to your bible and prove that it is true. You will not find that it is. You will instead find a spirit posing as the Holy Spirit and some other god called Jesus who is not the one and only Son of the Most High. How do you know you are right? The only way to know is to prove it through God’s word. It is our standard by which all teachings, prophecies, prophets and apostles should be measured.

Jesus never lacked or held back from calling a wrong for what it was – never. He never backed down in spite of the bad treatment He received from many, even those who claimed to love Him. He never let the ways of man get in the way of what He came to earth to do, which was to save sinners from eternal damnation.  He never backed down even though every day of those 33 years of His earthly life made Him one day closer to the horrific suffering that was sure to take place.  It came as no surprise to Him, He knew it all along and still He chose to go through with it.  Imagine that if you can.

This is your warning. It may be the only one you ever get before you die. If you are following the teachings of these imposters or those who teach with them or under them you are following  cleverly devised myths. I am here to tell you that I have been an eye witness of their ministries on some level. I have read their books, listened to them on media, bought their teaching, watched them on television, and believed and even coveted their prophecies, and some I have seen and been prayed over by them in person. In turn, I supported and taught to others what I learned from them.

Cal Pierce, Bill Johnson, John Paul Jackson, Paul Keith Davis, Kim Clement, Heidi Baker, Patricia King, Bob Jones, Sid Roth, Rodney Howard-Browne, Ken Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer, Cindy Jacobs, Paula White, Mike Bickle, Chuck Pierce, Todd Bentley, Randy Clark, Lou Engle, Dutch Sheets, Rick Warren, Rory and Wendy Alec; anyone on television, teachings and teachers at Bethel, IHOP, International Association of Healing Rooms, Vineyard, Streams Ministries, Rhema, Word of Faith, the Elijah List and Extreme Prophetic. I also avoid their worship music. This is only a partial listing. Do your research.

I am telling you to get away and get away now.  Believe me, Jesus did not die so you could protect the teachings or defend the honor of a person you believe to be right who in reality is a false teacher or prophet. You will not gain points because you do so. It will not gain you anything to call me a Pharisee, or tell me that I have a religious spirit or that I am judgmental, or accuse me of spreading trash. I am warning you of fatal error as I am told to do in the bible.

You will be faced with God one day and all of your excuses will not mean a thing to Him as He turns His head from you with the words “DEPART, I NEVER KNEW YOU!” So, is that risk worth it? Are you sure who you follow and believe?

..work out your own salvation with fear and trembling..Philippians 2:12; Behold now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Repent my friends and be restored to full salvation.

Caveat Emptor

Caveat emptor – Let the buyer beware.

I took a jump and bought a book. After having been deceived by so many lying teachers and spending a small fortune on their “stuff” I’ve held off from reading much of anything in print. Who wants to be deceived again and pay money for it?  But, I purchased a book on line from a company I have used quite a bit in the past. Would you believe the very next day I read a short post on the same author and learned that he is actually emergent!!!  You may believe it, I could not. I listened to this guy for about half an hour on youtube and I never heard anything wrong.  This is how easy it is to get pulled in to their mess.

I went ahead and waited two weeks for the book to arrive.  After it did, it sat on my table for a whole day before I bothered with unpacking it. I usually rip right into new books, but not this one. The bubble had burst.  Each time I saw the book I kicked myself for not checking him out better than what I had.  I still don’t know how I missed that!  Is this not what I have been screaming about?  AAAAHHHH!

Finally, I unpacked the dreaded book. I looked at the back cover which was full of gleaming praise from other well known emergent leaders. Ugh. This was more than bad. I tried to read the book just to see if I could pick out the heresy. I couldn’t concentrate. Even after several attempts.

One more book for that s’more fest coming soon.

I contacted the Christian bookseller to let them know this was not a Christian book. They did not care.

Here is their response:

It might be useful for you to understand our philosophy of product selection.  Because we attract and service a wide range of customers (from pastors to homemakers, and seminary students to parents) whose interests and theological tastes vary enormously, we sometimes carry products that contradict each other or that are written by people that not all of our customers agree with theologically.  It is this kind of diversity in selection that has become a trademark of our company.  We don’t want to become a theological or social ‘censor’ of the books we carry, but we also try to remain selective.  So we tend to carry most popular Christian titles unless there is a compelling reason not to.

So, I would be safe in the assumption that deception and false teaching is not a compelling enough reason for a Christian bookseller to refuse to carry such titles. They are right. This information IS useful for me to know. Wide and “diverse”  is the road for book selling, not the same as the narrow one leading to salvation.

Money talks, again and again and its mouth is too big to fit through that narrow gate.

Witnessing History Repeat Itself

A very good teaching on the great falling away prophesied in the bible as one of the end time signs, comparing the first coming of Jesus with His coming second one.

Witnessing History Repeat Itself

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet

Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.
Matthew 2:1-8 (NASB)

One of the repeated teachings at Moriel is that prophecy is not so much about the fulfillment of specific events at a specific pre-set date and time as much as it is really patterns which repeat themselves, growing ever stronger until their last, ultimate fulfillment. That is why a lot of what we understand about Christ’s Second Coming is foreshadowed – a pattern – revealed during His First Coming. Learning as much as we can about His First Coming teaches a great deal about how things will ultimately take place at His Second Coming. And I have a very strong suspicion that we are seeing some of these things taking place right now. The religious authorities of the day knew Scripture so well that without hesitation they answered the Magis’ question about the Messiah, but like many today, they were completely blind to actually seeing it take place.

At that time in history the night sky was earth’s version of television: EVERYONE watched it, never missing a nightly episode. Since they didn’t know what a “star” really was, they considered the sky part of “the heavens”, the place where God lived and reigned. What happened in the sky was considered to be an indication – even a type of communication – of what was going on in heaven. Everyone from the most learned to the most superstitious kept an eye upward, curious as to what God was doing and might be saying through the events of the night sky.

This is an important point to remember because in such an environment it’s required that we ask, “If there was a comet or supernova that created a never-before-seen big, new shiny star in the sky, how is it possible that NO ONE noticed EXCEPT the Magi?” No one recognized the sign because it was only visible to a very few. If there had been a big, shiny “Christmas star”, everyone would have noticed it. They may not have understood what it meant, but when the Magi appeared and said, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east”, everyone would have slapped their head and confirmed, “Oh! You mean that big, new shiny thing that appeared for the first time a couple of years back?” Not only did no one say that, but they found it necessary to ask the Magi for the particulars.

It was most logical for the Magi to stop and inquire at the one palace they surely thought would be most in tune with the arrival of the birth of the Messiah. And in fact the experts at that palace knew the exact answer. Although they were unaware it was taking place at that very moment, they had no doubt it would eventually take place and they knew exactly WHERE it would happen. But how is this possible? How can someone possess all the information about Christ’s coming and yet not recognize it when it’s coming about? Because something took place that we’re seeing take place again in these final hours. What happened then is happening again, and the biblical term for it is “apostasy” – the great, spiritual falling away.

It’s important to distinguish the difference between “apostasy”, “heresy”, and generic disbelief. A heretic is someone who denies some essential part of the faith in order to foster false teaching or join a different religious group, whereas an apostate is someone who having at one time believed and sided with God, now turns against Him and abandons those beliefs. It’s not a state of ignorance or mistaken knowledge but a deliberate renouncing of the faith. A non-believer can’t renounce what they never subscribed to in the first place. What took place leading up to Christ’s First Coming is again taking place as a prelude to His Second Coming: a great spiritual falling away.

Let no one in any way deceive you, for it [the day of the Lord] will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
2 Thessalonians 2:3

The star was most certainly a sign from God, an indication in the heavens that spiritual events were taking place, but it was not a natural phenomena that everyone recognized. Only the spiritually prepared saw and interpreted the sign correctly; everyone else was blind to both its presence and proper context. It’s the real-life occurrence of what Jesus taught in the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins [1] – only the biblically prepared are ready when He comes.

The most repeated End Times issue that has been brought up by every major figure of the Old and New Testaments — including Christ Himself — is that the Last Days are marked by great deception and even greater apostasy. It’s those who hold fast to a faithful relationship with Christ to whom the true meaning of such things is revealed. It doesn’t come about by “knowledge”, but “faith”.

  • At the First Coming, the signs were only visible and understood by those who were faithful to Him. So it will be at His Second Coming.
  • At the First Coming the established religious authorities had become so institutionalized and corrupt that although they possessed knowledge of God’s Word, they did not know how to apply it or use it to recognize the signs of the times. Likewise at the Second Coming the great apostasy will render such authorities completely ineffective, even working on Herod’s behalf in his day, a major type of Antichrist.
  • At the First Coming those who recognized the signs of the times first went to those most likely to be interested but were not only rejected but actually found to persecute the Son of the God they professed to serve. Instead of welcoming Him, they sought to kill Him. At the Second Coming, much of the persecution of true believers comes from those claiming authority and position within the church, not to mention outright war waged aginst the Son.
  • At the First Coming a one-world system of government that embraced all religions as being part of a diluted whole ruled the earth under a single ruler in the form of the Roman Empire. So at the Second Coming the merging of religious institutions within a single organization under the world rule of the Antichrist will arise in the spirit of the revived Roman Empire.
  • At the First Coming the world’s ruler instituted a worldwide census to “mark” all its citizens. At the Second Coming the Antichrist will “mark” all of its citizens.
  • At the First Coming the followers of Christ rejoiced at His coming and responded by worshiping Him. At the Second Coming the Antichrist will lead a war against Christ and His followers and will do everything in his power to get everyone to worship him instead of Christ, but in the end every knee will bow and every tongue confess.
  • At the First Coming the signs of the times provided Believers with the time frame and general context that assured them that Christ’s appearance was imminent. So at the Second Coming we shall know not the exact date and time but the certainty and nearness of His arrival.

With more examples I suppose I could go on and on, but this is the sure point to take with you: If you want to know about the Second Coming, learn everything you can about His First Coming. And not according to the distilled holiday stories or even elaborate scientifically-based theories that have become so popular, but according to His Word, which was the very thing God gave to the earth at His First Coming.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:1-5

Just as it was then, so it is now. The difference between those who saw and responded to the signs and those blinded to them came down to the fact that such things are not a test of knowledge but faith. Knowledge of the Scriptures was enjoyed by all, but only those who were putting it into practice, who were doers of His Word and not merely hearers were the ones who passed the test of faith requisite for spiritual clarity.

There are many things foretold in Scripture that have and are coming true. But there is no greater confirmation that we are living in the shadow of Christ’s imminent return than the apostasy that is presently taking place within the church.

Protestant Evangelicalism Returning To Religious Slavery

A good article outlining the dangerous connection between Rick Warren and the contemplative/emergent group such as Richard Foster, Rob Bell and others.  Once again, focusing on trusting, unsuspecting, wanting- to- please- others high school aged kids.

from Apprising Ministries Rick Warren:Love Next Gen!

(Ever wonder why Rob Bell uses NOOMA instead of Pneuma, Greek for the Latin meaning breath, wind or spirit…because like the spelling of the word, the teaching is a fake – almost, but not quite the truth.  Hmmm…most of us would still believe a lie by any other name is still a lie.)
