Do People Choose to Be Blind?

I’ve been staying away from Todd Bentley. He is a proven heretic and I see no need, much less a desire, to track his every move, every word. We all know him for what he is. What surprises me is the support and following he continues to build and maintain. Do his followers look at him? Do they listen to him? He is not easy to look at by his own design of FOOLERY of the tattoos and shaved head. He dresses like a vampire and don’t let that  silver cross shining out of the blackness of his shirt trick you into believing he is a man of God! His look is designed to make us think he is something other than what he is-someone saved out of a sinful life of bikers, booze and drugs. Ha!  He falls over his own words which are lies upon lies, and clearly, Todd does not have a gift for speaking, teaching or leading!

So I have to ask – Do people choose to be blind?

I found this little jewel over on DiscerningtheWorld.com which will quickly show how far this man Todd Bentley has fallen and those along with him. They do not see the truth, they see some form of power, of supernatural experience which is exactly the push Todd is getting at here. Todd’s own words in this short video clip will show you without a doubt how completely out of control and dangerous Morningstar has gone.  Rick Joyner claims Todd has been “restored”. We must ask, restored to what exactly because whatever has happened to this man is not biblical restoration! And if anyone thinks I am being mean to poor Todd then consider those he and Rick Joyner are misleading every day! What of them? Who will save them?

As we have watched we have witnessed a coming together of various false “ministries” who present another gospel and another jesus, and another “spirit” and these things are not new!  I believe along with that is coming, or has already come, a greater source of power and strength. As the video states, Satan masquerades as an angel of light. He is not a fool and not a wimp. There is some power to his punch. How else will could he fool so many?

Todd Bentley – Enough About Jesus:

A very interesting point of view from Ian over on his blog that bears repeating:

The times of the Gentiles has been fulfilled

By ian vincent

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Luke 21:24

Jerusalem was sacked and the Jews dispersed in the 1st Century, fulfilling Jesus words here. While the Jews were in exile the Gentiles did indeed control Jerusalem, again, fulfilling the Word of the LORD.

Crucially, Jesus is saying that the end of Gentile dominance over the city of Jerusalem (bcos the Jews return from exile and regain control) marks the final chapter or phase of history before Jesus returns to earth.

The sign: when the Gentiles lose control of Jerusalem then their time is up. They will never tread down Jerusalem again, their time is over. That time is now. We are facing the most tumultuous period the world will ever face, bcos the Gentiles still think THEY own Jerusalem and want it back. They don’t know that their time is up, the times of the Gentiles has been fulfilled.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Psalm 46:10

10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

We need to be careful of who we put up on a pedestal, of who we listen to and follow, of who we believe holds the truth. This world is changing by the moment and many things are lining up. We don’t know how much time we have left before the return of the Lord. We don’t know with any certainly the condition our lives here on earth. So let’s take the time to be certain that our teachers are strictly biblical and that if we claim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that we follow the leading of His Spirit, the one and only Holy Spirit and not that of another. Let us be reminded of Luke 21:36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man. And let’s continue to pray for those caught up in the delusion that they may see the truth.

  1. m’kayla, people don’t choose to be blind – they are deceived by the enemy. In some cases it is the blind leading the blind and the people who deceive them are themselves sincere but deceived, in others the people who they follow know full well that they are frauds but do it because of the money. Testimony from former false teachers suggests that the delusion is very strong indeed – but I’m sure Todd Bentley knows he is faking it. When Lakeland fell apart, it was reported that Todd had sworn colleagues to secrecy over his adultery, and he was described as a “pathological liar” by people close to him.

    • And then there is the bible. When we choose to listen to people and not do our own reading and research we become blinded. That was the path I chose. Yes, I’ve heard stories about Todd’s past. I have no doubt he knows he is wrong. Then what of Joyner? He’s been at this much longer than Todd…Bill Johnson, Patrica King, Ryan Wyatt – there are many names associated with his. And I would agree those who are “saved” at these meetings or those who are newly saved and begin to attend them are in a very hard place, having not been fed with proper teaching, how will they ever arrive at the truth? That is the saddest part of all.

I have a couple of friends like this – they probably spend far more time in prayer and Bible study than I do. They have a real passion for God, but the problem is that their minds have been warped by the scripture-twisting heretics. Whilst some people (especially from the health & wealth industry) do prey on believers from the lower social classes, I know many people taken in by the “charismaniacs” who are educated and intelligent and became christians in sound evangelical churches. Yes, it’s really sad.

There is another side to it, in that many of the deceivers use mind control techniques, including crowd psychology and hypnotism, to induce altered states of consciousness in their congregations. This produces incredibly powerful emotional experiences and even physical effects such as apparent healings (that don’t last). You’ll see this in Bentley’s and Joyner’s meetings, for example. Most christians are completely ignorant of this and believe that they are experiencing the presence of God or the power of the Holy Spirit. But it can also become addictive and so people literally get hooked on this type of gathering.

I get the impression that Bentley’s following plummetted after his affair became public (and I thank God that marriage is still sacred), and there has been a lot of soul-searching going on. However there are still some who see him as a wounded hero. Joyner’s attempts to “restore” Todd suggest that he is equally corrupt.

  2. Oh my. He has held back preaching about the supernatural because people kept saying it is all about Jesus. “Enough of all that”. I don’t think we have seen anything yet! I wonder what Jesus thinks of the “Healing Angel” being exulted and put forward over Him in this way? Wait, please don’t answer that. We all already know!

Colossians 1:17-18 “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.” NASB

  3. I can’t express what is in me right now! He even said at the end he “offended the supernatural.” Really?! This alone speaks volumes. Even if he had not said what he said “enough of all that” about Jesus. His statement shows what he offended and it was not God. YES, he offended God and it is so obvious this man has chosen the dark side to be so concerned about offending the supernatural!

It is all about seeking signs and wonders as we were told it would be.

People “choose to be blind” when they have no love for the truth. That is what the end time deception is alll about. It is everywhere. It is in the church, in politics, in families, in marriages, in schools and universities. It is everywhere.

Honestly? I’m at the point where I almost feel like finding a cave and let everything around me go to hell. The darkness and evil and deceptions… are more than I can take at times. Lord lead me to that Rock that is higher than I! Come quickly Lord Jesus! Come quickly and I can only hope and pray I will be ready!

  4. Hi, First of all I’d like to say if Todd had really changed Ha! he would first of all cleaned up his appearance it’s anything but, honourey to the Lord. I think people choose a leader that suites them. Otherwise they don’t want to hear the truth they are not looking for the truth. The longer they are in it the blinder they become. Until they are searching in their heart and ask God to open their eyes to the truth I don’t think they will find it. Although we have heard from time to time unusual stories how God has pulled them out of it and opened their eyes as to what they were in. – RH – You sound like my sister and I the Lord can’t come quick enough – the lies the deceptions the unjust, just everything is enough drive us crazy. If it wasn’t knowing Christ as our personal saviour I don’t know what we would of do. But, we are to encourage one another and he is in control and one day soon we can say Good bye world. Keep looking up! Smile Jesus is coming. Praise God

    • You’ve probably seen pics of Todd taken a few years ago – no tats and he had hair – light red – and no biker garb! So what in the world was he trying to accomplish in taking on the look of a hard core biker? I grew up in an area of Hell’s Angels and after I was grown knew a few bikers from other “clubs”. Todd is as phoney as they come – but why? It’s stupid – and those who came out of that “lifestyle” and that of drugs and alcohol can spot an imposter a mile away. It’s just a way for him to attract more attention. And hey – I have Harely boots too, but I don’t go around kicking people with them. (Best boots I ever owned – 11 years old and still in good shape!)

  5. This is an important discussion.

We know from the scriptures that Satan blinds the minds of unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

It is less clear what happens to those who profess to be believers. Joshua, clearly God’s man at the time, was deceived by the Gibeonites. What is instructive here is that there is no indication that Joshua consulted the Lord on the matter before making the treaty with the Gibeonites.

I have been deceived as well.

M’Kayla, I think you are spot on that everything must be measured by the Word of God. That, and taking the time to wait upon the Lord for an answer.

  6. Here is an interesting verse: 1 Corinthians 11:29

“For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.”

“Heresies” in the King James might now more properly be translated “divisions”, yet either way it does become apparent who loves the truth of God.

    …………….
I believe that Paul penned these words for a generation of christians that are living here and now, a generation of christians who Jesus described as a wicked and adulterous generation because they sought a sign. For me , the wider implication of that passage in 2 Thess 2 is that I need to be actively seeking the truth and discarding all the things that aren’t, any thing less than that and I am liable to fall to the next availiable deception.

    • hehe, you’re funny. I bought them for work in human resources. It went with the territory at times and I could wear them with some pants and long dresses. They come up to the knee and have the square heel. A little more stylish than some of the others. I remember once when an applicant who was rejected called in and threatened to come down there and jump the counter. I thought – come on, I got my boots on today. hehe.

  9. I agree with redeemedhippiesplace and John Edwards . After looking into these things for months I think, I can’t be shocked or grieved anymore, but there is it. Always heartbroken and saddened by how so many can continue on to follow after such blatant deception. John is right there is a choice in being deceived at some point. I found Eph. 4:22 the other day where in mentions the “lusts of deceit”…. “that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,” and then I have to remind myself that I too was there at one time. Your right, there has to be a love for the truth above all else. Extremely hard to navigate through the anger, frustration, sorrow and grief , but am so thankful that God presented me with the truth and I choose to come out. Finding true peace in the midst of this mayhem. I have read articles by all three of you and they have helped tremendously, thank you for your faithfulness.

  10. In Africa, I recently met a local shaman that the locals revered. Why? This shaman would ‘perform’ signs when practicing his art. Because he could ‘tell them things that were going to happen’ and because he could ‘make things happen that other people could not make happen’ the people literally hung on his words – always looking for the next, best thing to happen FOR THEM TO SEE and HEAR.

Here in America, we have the same thing taking place with people such as Todd Bently. Todd, despite having been brought down on the carpet about his adultery, has people still following him – listening to his every word. Because after all, HE HEARS DIRECTLY FROM GOD AND GOD MOVES THRU HIM!!! (despite all of his discrepencies).

People love to see the signs, here the words coming from a man who says and does things that ‘other people could not make happen’.

Same thing happens with many, MANY other “prophets”. People are tired of “regular church” and want something bigger and better. How very sad. Everyone wants GREAT SPECIAL EFFECTS in movies now but they are also wanting it in church.

Lord Jesus, you did tell us it would get bad before you returned – didn’t you.

    • And then we have the group led by John Paul Jackson who teaches that the shamans, psychics, etc. have the same gift from God as His prophets and seers – theirs have not yet been sanctified. Its all blasphemy, but so many fall for it.
