CHRISTIANS BEWARE! Todd Bentley in Seattle

by Bud Press, Director
Christian Research Service

Currently, Todd Bentley and Jason Hooper are conducting a tour in Yakima and Seattle, Washington. We need to pray that God will be merciful to the innocent and unwary who attend, and open their eyes to the real Jesus Christ.

While the tour will consist of the usual bill-of-fare of firey thrills, burning chills, and electrically-induced excitemement, those who attend will not see Bible-based healings or miracles, nor will God show up and bless the tour. God hasn’t changed. He is still against false prophets (Jeremiah chapter 23; Matthew chapter 7; Matthew chapter 24).

However, despite God’s warnings, those who plan to attend may fulfill their dream of seeing Todd Bentley in person, and be mezmerized by of one of the world’s most prolific false teachers.

Todd Bentley is of the same caliber that the Apostle Paul wrote about in Galatians 2:4-5:

But it was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage. But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.

As Todd Bentley works diligently to recapture what he “lost” in 2008, Christians need to sound an alarm–an alarm that shouts, CHRISTIANS BEWARE! But be mindful of at least one thing: One cannot lose what one doesn’t have in the first place.

Todd Bentley is a false prophet, false teacher, false healer, and false brethren. The sooner his followers realize that, the better off they will be.

The Prophetic Movement is a vile, stench-filled organism that changes and mutates day by day. It is filled with cultic, heretical, and blasphemous teachings that contaminates, conditions, and manipulates the minds and hearts of its followers into believing lie after lie after lie.

Turn away from the Prophetic Movement and its false “Jesus”. Repent and place your complete trust in the Jesus of the Bible:

Weight Loss At All Costs

Matthew 16:25-27

25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Lighthouse Trails has some important information regarding Rick Warren (Saddleback Church) and his newly formed  weight loss program.  (I think this story has gone viral!) Warren’s latest plan is another instance of those willing to follow a leader who has inadequate bible knowledge, yet esteemed as “America’s Pastor”. It says a lot for the church today; lazy and laid back, entertained, fat and happy. We want to know God but we don’t want to study the bible for ourselves. We want someone else to do the work and feed it to us. And when that teacher is found to be wrong what price are we willing to pay to keep him on top?

We want to lose weight but don’t want to work at it. It used to be “take this pill, or drink this liquid”. Now, according to Dr. Oz we are being told we can meditate those pounds away. Meditation is free. I wonder what the late Jack La Layne would have to say here. (On a personal note, I have recently lost 25 pounds and intend on losing more, and I did not do it by meditation. I did it the old-fashioned way, by exercise and saying no to the oreos!)

Jesus did not take the easy way out although He certainly could have. He went to the cross to bear our sins– and in the scripture above “MY SAKE” means for Him. What are we willing to give up to speak the truth so that others may be saved from destructive teachings as these?

From Lighthouse Trails –

In the video below, Dr. Oz, the new weight-loss mentor for thousands of Christians through Rick Warren’s new Daniel Plan, talks to New Ager Deepak Chopra about meditating to lose weight. What they don’t tell you in this video is that eastern-style meditation can put participants into contact with demonic spirits. The Bible warns against such harmful practices. Yet, Dr. Oz, also a Reiki advocate, is taking his spiritual “insights” to Rick Warren’s followers.

Go here to watch the video, please heed the warning and need for prayer

(Please note there are other good articles and information from LT on this and other topics. I’m only nailing some things together that I found out.)

Dr. Oz (made famous by Oprah) is Swedenborgian. This from their beliefs page.

Salvation

The requirements for salvation are simple: live well, believe rightly, and you will be saved. We believe that all people who live good lives, no matter what their religion, have a place in heaven. Heaven is limitless in its capacity for angels, in fact, the more angels there are, the more heaven thrives. Everyone born on this earth has been predestined for heaven. The only reason someone would go to hell is because they have chosen to go there of their own volition.

In determining whether or not we have lived well, God leads us to assess the whole of our lives — the highs and lows, causes and effects, the mistakes made and genuinely good things done. If there is any possible way He can lead us into heaven, He will. In other words, it’s pretty difficult to go to hell. God’s greatest wish for us is that we find our highest happiness within the angel body. Those who choose hell are people who put themselves above all else, repeatedly indulging in things which are hurtful to others. The only reason hell exists is to preserve the freedom of choice which God grants to all His people.

We play an active role in our salvation every day of our lives. When we look to the Divine and live according to what we believe is right, we move closer towards heaven. If we shun good, we move closer to hell. Thus, salvation and freedom of choice are inseparable from each other.

Salvation is not dependent on the doctrinal specifics of the religion you have followed on earth. As long as you have lived a life acknowledging God and refraining from evil because it is against Him, you will be saved. Acknowledging God does not necessarily mean recognizing Him by name. A person can be ignorant of religion and still acknowledge God by living a life of goodwill. This is because the choices that we make on a daily basis are what determine whether we end up in heaven or hell. Yes, worshipping God is essential for admittance into heaven, but we worship Him through the actions of our lives.

And the theology –

Emanuel Swedenborg

The New Church bases its doctrine on the Bible as illuminated by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, an eighteenth century theologian and scientist (read the full biography). This theology is founded on the belief that God used Swedenborg as a vessel through which to spread His teachings to people on earth. During a process of divinely inspired revelations, Swedenborg wrote thirty-five volumes of theological books, referred to as the Writings or Heavenly Doctrines, addressing the mysteries of human life which had previously gone unexplained or been misunderstood. One of the prime purposes for his work was to reveal an inner meaning in the Bible, thus uncovering new relevance and hope for mankind. Within the Writings, Swedenborg describes the nature of the Divine, the function of creation, and the life which awaits us after death. He also provides practical guidelines for having a relationship with God and bringing religion into everyday life.

Above all, Swedenborgian theology seeks to make God accessible to humankind:

“Linking with an invisible God is like linking the sight of the eye with the expanse of the universe, the bounds of which are not to be seen. Or it is like looking out in the middle of the ocean, when the gaze falls on the air and sea and is frustrated. But linking with a visible God is like seeing a man in the air or the sea opening His arms and inviting you to come into His embrace.” (True Christian Religion 787)

The mission of the New Church is to carry out this purpose in the modern-day world.

Swedenborgian theology DOES NOT and CANNOT connect mankind to God. Jesus Christ did that for us when He went to the cross! John 3:16! It is only through our faith in him that we can be saved and hope to have a relationship with God!

How much like the false teachers and prophets of charismania, the NAR and Dominionism with their bizarre visitations, out-of-body experiences, dreams and visions of “God told me” directives and the new thing God is doing!

Yet Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us  that there is no new revelation!

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

It only stands to reason there is a great possibility that many from Saddleback will be caught up in this “New Church”/Swedenborgian Theology, and/or the practices of eastern religious meditation. And it makes me wonder again what Rick Warren is really up to, and who this “jesus” is that he serves. Because it is not the Jesus written about in the bible. And the reason why we can say this with confidence is because Warren’s teachings do not line up with the word, nor does he heed it’s warnings.

From Christian Post here

Rick Warren pledges to lose 90 pounds during a 52-week church fitness plan, developed by Dr. Oz and two other medical experts, that will launch on Saturday at Saddleback Church.

The Daniel Plan, based on the prophet Daniel who chose healthy eating instead of the king’s rich foods, is a yearlong, churchwide program to help the Saddleback parishoners get physically healthier.

“The Bible says that God wants you to be as healthy physically as you are spiritually,” said Warren in a video announcing the event. “The plan will help you feel better, look better, have more energy, get in shape, and use your body the way God wants you to.”

Does anyone know what scripture Warren is referring to that states God wants us to be as healthy physically as we are spiritually? Does God ever refer to “spiritual health”? And for that matter, the prophet Daniel was not fasting or refusing rich foods for weight loss or health reasons! Warren is twisting the words of the bible to say what he wants them to. But why?

1 Timothy 4:7-9

7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.

An interesting connection between Swedenborg and AA’s 12 Steps from My Word Like Fire here

noting that Warren has his own version of 12 stepping in his famous Celebrate Recovery Program. MWLF has more articles on this topic. Again, I am only nailing some pieces together.

And how many of us were in awe of those Helen Keller stories??? A little detail was left out. Her religion spelled out here.

Colossians 2:6-10

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Time Off

Hi.

A note to let you know that I will not be blogging or moderating comments for about one week beginning Saturday, Jan 22nd. I am taking time to be with family to celebrate the life  and recognize the passing of our dear Mother Evelyn. If you comment during that time it won’t be posted until I return.

Bessings and peace to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

A Purpose Driven Beauty Queen

From Associated Press

LAS VEGAS – The newly-crowned Miss America, 17-year-old Teresa Scanlan, is a mostly home-schooled Christian who pointed heavenward when she was announced as the winner Saturday night.

According to the new Miss America, she wasn’t the only Christian contestant in this year’s pageant. “We know why we’re here and what we’re doing,” said Scanlan, “and we have a passion for it because we know it’s what God wants us to do. And so every person that I meet I know God has a reason why I’m meeting them. I just want to embrace that as much as I can this year.”

Scanlan told reporters that she and other Christian contestants had been at peace waiting for the judges’ decision, confident that it was ultimately in God’s hands. “We knew that whatever happened is His plan,” she shared. “And so whether I won or not, I just knew that the right person would be in the right place. So I guess I’m in the right place — and now I’m just so excited to see what He has in store.”

She says she and many of her fellow contestants are purpose-driven Christians. “Many of the girls who made it very high [in the competition] had a strong faith because that shows…the substance and purpose behind what we’re doing — and that’s why we’re driven.”

The former Miss Nebraska said she believes her faith was an advantage in the competition, since she didn’t have to think through and sort out her convictions beforehand. Scanlan said, “That’s the whole purpose behind who I am. I’m defined by what God has created me to be.”

After her year as Miss America, Scanlan plans to attend Patrick Henry College — a Christian school in Virginia — where she’ll study government and work toward a career in law or politics.

________

I have to ask what has happened to older Christian women who are called to teach the younger ones. Surely she has been given advice from older women! I guess they are too caught up in reading Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven garbage in finding their own purposes so that they can fulfill those destinies.

If we have to wonder if it is truly God’s will for women to conduct themselves this way then we have not bothered to read the scriptures, much less be trained up in what they say. Beauty pageants are as far away from God’s calling for women as pornography and prostitution! Harsh! Yes!

Titus 2:1-6

1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

1 Timothy 2:8-12

8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.

We know the truth as we find it written in the scriptures, not because we have found our plans to succeed! And when our plans don’t line up with the guidance of conduct in the bible then we certainly should consider that we are out of God’s will! And this newly crowned Miss America is still a child – only 17!

Proverbs 31

The Virtuous Wife

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “ Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

a burning

Acts 19:18-20

18 And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. 19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

I put up this blog to confess that I had been caught up in false doctrine and the false signs and wonders that accompany them, hoping that my honesty and warning would help others avoid or leave such practices and beliefs.

I soon learned, to my horror, that much of what I practiced is a lot like witchcraft and the practice of other religions, having no foundation in the word of God.

The amount of money I spent on books, CDs and training is nowhere near worth 50K but it was a good amount of cold hard cash.

It is my hope and prayer that my testimony to the truth will help others find the way out of charismania back to their true Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no compromise.

And so the book burning begins –

Got Kindling?

Yes, there were marshmallows for toasting.

In Memory of Mamma K.

In  Memory of Evelyn Kelly, truly a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend.

My husband’s mother passed last night. She was ready to leave. I keep thinking of a line from a movie “A lady always knows when it’s time to leave”.

I believe she is in the arms of Jesus today, surrounded by her husband, and her two grandchildren –Steven and Jessica. They are in that place created by God where there is no more suffering or sorrow or tears.

We spoke Jesus to these that we loved and now they see Him face to face. This can be a time of sorrow but for me it is another “splat! right into the wall” moment, to know they see what I can only speak of and wait patiently for . I choose the hope of Christ!

This is her pictured with my husband and our mini-doxie Kara on the Washington coast taken a few years ago. It was a perfect day.

a retelling of the good news

aaahhh – is she posting? Is she actually writing something? Oh, she is!

I believe that God created man in His own image. Two of them to begin with, who were placed in a beautiful place to live, without hassles. God walked with them and spoke to them every day and enjoyed the company of His creation and called it good. Eventually these created beings made the wrong choice out of their God-given right to free will, the right to choose. They did not listen to God, their Father, but listened instead to a well-formed lie woven by a crafty manipulator. They called the lie the truth and found that it was good. They were banished from paradise and the hassles of life as we know it began.

After that God made many covenants and attempts to reconnect with His people throughout time. He gave them laws and blessings and waited patiently, with what He refers to as longsuffering, (we say this loooonnngsuuuuferrrrriiiiiinnnnngggg) for them to respond. But man’s heart, despite all the good given to him, is wicked. Man continue to fail and to live in sin by making bad choices through the act of  – again – God-given free will. I want to add here that man’s continued failure came as no surprise to God. This is an important point because the next thing  – the greatest thing – was not God’s plan B. God was not like Ford Motor Company who some decades ago needed to get a better idea. No, this plan, this one plan to end all plans had been there before even the foundation of the earth. He just had it tucked in His back pocket for the right time to come rolling around. Waiting is not a problem to God because to Him one thousand years is like a day. You and I can’t hardly wait for the next payday to come rolling around, much less the next thousand years!

Ok. So enter Jesus. Yes. Jesus. Yeshua. The Messiah, the one and only son of the Most High God. Jesus, although He is called the Son of God is really God Himself, God in the flesh and as we are told He is called Immanuel. And, wait because it gets better. Jesus, the son of the Most High God, the one sent to deliver God’s people was born of a virgin named Mary – just a little bit of a girl really, not a big bustling woman, not a well-known well dressed woman of the world that all the girls looked up to, just little bitty Mary who had never once had sex.

An angel, a real one not called Emma, visited Mary and told her that the Lord had found favor with her and that she was going to have a child and that the name would be Jesus. When she asked how that was to be, her having still been a virgin, the angel not called Emma told her that she would be visited by the Holy Spirit.  This is a true visitation because the same angel told Mary’s boyfriend Joseph the same thing. Then, nine months later she indeed gave birth to a baby boy, the one who would even deliver her. As a woman and a mother this astounds me. Some days we have thoughts or realizations that make us feel like we ran splat right into a wall. This is one of them and it happens every time I think that a young girl gave birth to the one who would deliver and save anyone who called on His name – the name above every name. Jesus is the one who came to bring people back into relationship with God. He came to fix that bad decision made by free will that banished man from paradise. The one that made us have kids with runny noses who wouldn’t do what we said despite our blessings and rules. The kids who insist on doing things their own way. The ones with free will. Ahem.

There’s another splat into the wall moment coming up. Jesus grew into a man and began to teach all who would listen about the Father and about the kingdom of God. He chose twelve men who liked to make bad decisions, but they listened and believed in Him. Because Jesus is God He could tell the condition of the hearts of those around Him. Many hated this because they wanted to continue to live out their lives of the lie, the one that began by the crafty manipulator so long ago. Oh no. Crafty never left the scene. He’s always been there. So in their blindness and their insistence on being right – their pride – and because of their kinship to Crafty, they hated Jesus and planned to get rid of Him. But many others loved Him and to those He gave forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

Jesus taught his disciples many things and spoke of His own death and the coming of the Holy Spirit who He also referred to as the Comforter. He told them that the Holy Spirit would convict the world of sin, which is the need to make those dumb free will choices, and that He would lead them into all truth. Then the dark and dreadful day came that Jesus was arrested and taken from them. He was brought to a court where His destiny had already been decided. They mocked Him even though He loved them they beat Him nearly unrecognizable. Then they put nails in His hands and feet and hung Him up that way to die on a cross.

This is what I do not understand.  People can read this story and those facts of the savage brutality, which was an act of wicked, wicked hearts, and they are not moved. Yet, those very same people will rise up against someone who mistreated a dog.

Only three people remained to watch Jesus die. Only three. One was His mother Mary. Then they took Him down, loving wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him alone in a tomb. Have you buried a child?

Those who hated Jesus thought it was the end. The crafty one thought he had won and that people would forever be under his rule. He often thought more of himself than he should and is how he ended on his belly.  See? They were all wrong. Jesus rose on the third day, defeating the death of the cross, winning the battle and proving to all that He is indeed God. Because no one has the power to overcome death but God himself. Kinda lets the umph out of those vampire stories, huh? Team Edward, Team Jacob sorry, you lose too.

So let’s look at this because for a long time I never got the Jesus gotta die thing. When the two were removed from paradise and were banished it was because of their sin in not doing what God said. Sin leads to death. Don’t debate it in your mind just accept it as fact because as  humans it will never make sense. It is necessary to give life to live, so then God came to earth to die in our place so that if we believe in Him we will not die but live forever. Yes, there is a physical death but then we live again with Him. It’s another wall moment because God who is capable of anything could have done any of it or all of it differently but chose not to. That is His love. Don’t miss that point because it is the greatest. And if you decide to do the free will thing here and miss it you will die in your sin and it will be too late to change your mind later on.

Jesus appeared to His disciples and again, taught them, ate with them, comforted them. The first person who saw him was not a man, but a woman. Ha. I love that. It’s one up for the girls. Jesus told His disciples He would be leaving them. He told them to go and wait in a room for the gift to come. As they spoke He went up into the heavens and they watched Him go. Again, there was a visit from an angel, this one wasn’t Emma either, who told them they would see Him come again in the same way they saw Him leave. Translated this means that Jesus will be in the heavens the next time we see Him! The Message says Jesus disappeared mysteriously. Don’t read the Message. It is a book authored by the crafty one, yes, he has books, and this one is a well hidden fact.

The disciples and followers of Jesus went to the room and waited. It was their turn for longsuffering. They were obedient to the instructions of their Lord and were given the gift of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He came with might and power. He came with great authority and as Jesus said He would, He convicted the people of sin. Many were saved – 3,000 at time and the church of Jesus Christ grew in number and influence. They knew they had the free will choice to do stupid and purposeless things. They knew that they  could leave at any moment and return to their homes and to their jobs and wine vats. But they chose something different. They chose to hear the word and they received it well. Many of them gave their lives so that others could hear the news of Jesus Christ. And to this day it continues. That is the basic story of the gospel of Jesus Christ that is to be preached to all creatures to the ends of the earth.

And you thought Steven Spielberg could tell stories!

Jesus came to earth in a way that the people did not expect Him to. They were waiting for a ruler to restore their kingdom. Jesus told them His kingdom is not of this world. I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit came in a way that they did not expect either. Who could prepare for such power? Have you ever spoken the word of God to someone and you knew there’ s no  way those words could have come from you? That was the Holy Spirit. It’s a kapow deal. A step up from the wall moment. But make no mistake, the Holy Spirit is Jesus, He is God and in that He is distinct. Crafty has his own distinctions and men have once again traded the truth for the lie and called it good. Catch that.

This is a simplified version, my having had no forethought on this at all! – and that is the point. It is simple. But, its such a crazy story  – not my retelling but the real complete unabridged one found in the bible.  And still some days, even though I believe and know that it is true I wonder why… or how. It is bizarre to my human, selfish mind why God would go and do the things He went and did. But, I think that’s the point.

Who else would do such a thing but God Himself?

splat right into the wall.

___

True it has been quite some time since I have written anything. I write this today in honor of Jesus Christ who is everything the bible claims He is. Today is the 1st anniversary of Steven’s death, my husband’s beautiful son. I write this in honor of Christ who does give us life abundant. In Him there is peace, there is joy and the hope of things to come when we see Him in the clouds on a day when there will be no more tears or sorrow or death. Then day when God makes all things new. He holds all our tears in a bottle, ya know?

A Correction to Doctrinal Error in Heavy Rain

Mike Rogers of Closing Stages has done a combination book review and corrective doctrinal teaching of Kris Vallotton’s book Heavy Rain which according to Vallotton is the next step in world take-over dominion style.
