Understanding the Times – Roger Oakland

Jude 3-4

3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

out of the fire –

A Dangerous Journey

At the beginning of 2010 I decided I wanted to get involved in a more passionate “Christianity”. I have always thought of myself as a worshipper & I craved being around others who lived & breathed worshipping the Lord.

Our church had been *pushing* & wanting revival to break out. So naturally I went home one day and decided to research about what “revival” actually was and how we could get it!  Through my discoveries I found out about The Welsh Revival, Charles Finney and others.

I wanted *revival* to break out in our church. The more I read about the “amazing” things that happened in Wales, the more I wanted that to happen to us.

This is a four-part testimony of a fellow blogger who the Lord delivered from what she calls “extreme Pentecostalism”.  Please go to Inerrant Word to read her story.

These are moments of rejoicing as we see the Lord pulls another out of the fire of false teaching and the grip of the demonic spirit.

Thank you Lord God for your faithfulness toward your own.

Unveiling a False Prophecy

Lots of “prophetic words” going around these days. How about the self-proclaimed prophets who claim God did or God said because of the nation’s sin was great, because the people refuse to repent, and the one that said the disaster struck because the nation is shaped like the head of a dragon? Did God not create the world?

Listen to the words of Jesus –

Luke 13:1-5

1 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Disasters that come upon the earth are not because of the nation’s great sin or because the people are worse sinners.  The earth is in a fallen state because of sin. And no one knows what will happen next or to whom it will happen. So repent and be ready and stop listening to the false prophets who only want to scare you into following after them and their revelation of stupidity. The bible shows you the truth right here, right here. 🙂

And to the followers of the false prophets who are warning about the big one in California. I grew up in CA and lived there all of my life until I moved a few years ago. We were always hearing about the “big one” to hit CA, that would cause it to become an island, that would create beach front property in Arizona. I noticed these sayings when I was a small girl! You imagine. These predictions did not come by way of “prophetic word”. They came from scientists and seismologists who had been studying the earth, the San Andreas Fault Line for years! So, please, be careful of who you listen to and why you have lent your ear.

Psalm 1 Calls You Blessed – if…

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And on His law he meditates day and night,

3 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

Bethel and IAHR Connection

I have often referred to the connection between Bethel (Bill Johnson) and the International Association of Healing Rooms (Cal Pierce). Following is a letter posted at ibethel regarding that connection.  Please continue to pray for those who are caught up in the deception of these two organizations. I came out of it; others can too! – 2 Timothy 2:26

Dear Global Legacy friends,

As a consorted effort to bring clarity to the body, we, the Healing Rooms Department at Bethel, are informing our network of friends and family about some confusion that has been brought to our attention. Many guests have come through our doors without and awareness of our membership in the International Association of Healing Rooms. We apologize for not communicating this effectively and are taking appropriate measures to do so now.

While we look different than most, the Healing Rooms at Bethel have been a registered member of IAHR since our inception in 2005. The difference in our format and set-up are due largely to the distinctive demands of Bethel Church and the number of people we minister to on any given Saturday. As we have developed, we remain in close partnership with IAHR and are committed to the core values and excellence of the association. The interactive flow of experiences including live worship music, dancing, soaking, prophetic painting and art, have been part of our endeavor to facilitate the unique growth within our church environment while lovingly and effectively ministering to each and every individual.

We live in an exciting time where the works of Jesus are increasingly being displayed by His Body around the world. The Healing Rooms movement is a vital part of training and equipping the Saints to do the work of the ministry, and we are privileged to be one of the thousands of Healing Rooms established around the globe! It is our vision and dream to create a place where the Presence of Jesus the Healer is abiding, where people get healed before we have the opportunity to lay hands on them, and where each moment of time spent here is a moment experiencing His fullness. (emphasis mine)

We pray that your visitations with us in the past and in the future are full of His joy and freedom and that He does exceedingly beyond what any of us could think or imagine! If you would like more information on starting a Healing Rooms ministry, please contact Elaine Perkins, International Associate Director of the International Association of Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington at birthing@healingrooms.com and for more information on the Healing Rooms at Bethel, feel free to contact the Administrator at christinaw@ibethel.org.

The Unpardonable Sin

This subject of the unpardonable sin has come up here from time to time and I thought the following writing would be most helpful –

The concept of an unpardonable sin has been a source of difficulty for many because it seems to go against the Bible’s teaching concerning grace. It also seems to be contrary to the purpose of why Christ came, to save sinners. Yet in Matthew 12 Jesus speaks of a sin that is unpardonable. Through the years I have heard many assert a great many things surrounding this passage which has left me often times frustrated, discouraged and even doubting salvation.

Peace in a Globalized Society

Hi Guys!

I haven’t listened to all of this video, but wanted to put the link up so that you can become more aware of what was discussed.

The place of faith in the transformation of societies in North Africa was a key area of the conversation. Tony Blair said:

“All over the region, as their societies become more open, they will have people of different faiths. It is essential to begin that dialogue. If we can also establish a faith dialogue and partnership, that in itself will be of major importance. It is far more likely that democratic systems will take root and will deliver prosperity and opportunity if there is an open and respectful attitude, according dignity to those of another faith. Whilst being completely true to their tradition and religion, people can be open also to others of a different religion.”

Tony Blair and Rick Warren also took head on the misconception that engaging with those of other faiths means a dilution of one’s own religious beliefs.

Pastor Rick stated: “Interfaith dialogue doesn’t mean compromising your faith; it means understanding somebody else’s and not watering it down. We’re not trying to find the lowest common denominator we’re saying, ‘But how can we get along?'”

Rick Warren and Tony Blair  – Saddleback Civil Forum

We live, work and play in a world that is made up of many religions. As Christians we are called to love and to preach the gospel to everyone. We are not called to promote peace in a “globalized society”.  We are not called to find a “common good” between people so that we can all get along together. (We already do that!) There is no good in any of us.  Nor should we be manipulated by rulers or apostates to follow them in finding methods to share the faith separate from what has been laid out for us in scripture.

There will be no true peace until Jesus Christ returns and sets up His own kingdom. We cannot begin that process without Him and He will be the only one to initialize it. Until then all efforts are futile. Watch who you walk after.

Isaiah 9:6-8

6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Matthew 16:26

26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Sorry Rob, God Wins.

Ken Silva at Apprising Ministries has spent a good amount of time exposing the goings on behind the growth of the Emergent Church, namely, Rob Bell, founding pastor of Mars Hill Church in Grand Rapids, MI.  Ken was one of my sources when I first started to read up on Richard Foster.

On his site is some very important information and videos revealing the true “faith” of Rob Bell as expressed in his new book, Love Wins. I know these vids are practically viral, but it is an important point to make.

Here’s one –

A few years ago, while my husband and I were still attending the local Vineyard church, Bell’s video series Nooma was quite hot. We were urged to join the group the next time around because it was so good. And, ‘OH, M’Kayla, you are in leadership…’.

Nooma, is what I can only describe as the dumbed down word for what should be “Pnuema”.

Greek Lexicon

Pneuma-

The third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son

  1. sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his personality and character (the \Holy\ Spirit)

  2. sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his work and power (the Spirit of \Truth\)

  3. never referred to as a depersonalised force

That name “Nooma” all by itself should have sent out warning signals all the way to the top dog. It didn’t. So, once a week we gathered together in a cozy living room with other members of the newly formed “life group”. We watched the vids and looked around at each other with stupefied looks on our faces. Rob has mastered the talent of “spin”. He is cool, he is intelligent, he is convincing. And in a teaching environment where there are no open bibles – well, you know where that leads. We knew something was off but we could not put even one of our malnourished spiritual fingers on exactly what it was. No wonder, we were starving for real bread, and no one was as much as even buying the flour.

So, with Bell’s revelation in that there is no hell – lately waxing universalism – in that we will all go to heaven one day, I am wondering what in the world the Vineyard people think of him now.

What is it that you have laid your eyes upon, lent your ears to that has sent off the same warning signals?

Heed the warning.

Proverbs 16:25

25 There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.

A Prayer of the Afflicted

Psalm 102

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the LORD.

1 Hear my prayer, O LORD,
And let my cry come to You.
2 Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble;
Incline Your ear to me;
In the day that I call, answer me speedily.

3 For my days are consumed like smoke,
And my bones are burned like a hearth.
4 My heart is stricken and withered like grass,
So that I forget to eat my bread.
5 Because of the sound of my groaning
My bones cling to my skin.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness;
I am like an owl of the desert.
7 I lie awake,
And am like a sparrow alone on the housetop.

8 My enemies reproach me all day long;
Those who deride me swear an oath against me.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And mingled my drink with weeping,
10 Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have lifted me up and cast me away.
11 My days are like a shadow that lengthens,
And I wither away like grass.

12 But You, O LORD, shall endure forever,
And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.
13 You will arise and have mercy on Zion;
For the time to favor her,
Yes, the set time, has come.
14 For Your servants take pleasure in her stones,
And show favor to her dust.
15 So the nations shall fear the name of the LORD,
And all the kings of the earth Your glory.
16 For the LORD shall build up Zion;
He shall appear in His glory.
17 He shall regard the prayer of the destitute,
And shall not despise their prayer.

18 This will be written for the generation to come,
That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.
19 For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary;
From heaven the LORD viewed the earth,
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner,
To release those appointed to death,
21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

23 He weakened my strength in the way;
He shortened my days.
24 I said, “O my God,
Do not take me away in the midst of my days;
Your years are throughout all generations.
25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
27 But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
28 The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You.”

Psalm 71

For all who need comfort this morning –

1 In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.

2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.

3 Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.

4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.

6 By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.

7 I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.

8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.

9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.

10 For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,

11 Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

12 O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!

13 Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt.

14 But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.

15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

17 O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.

18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

19 Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You?

20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

21 You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.

22 Also with the lute I will praise you– And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.
