Psalm 1 Calls You Blessed – if…

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And on His law he meditates day and night,

3 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

  1. Brilliant Psalm. It is hard to wriggle around this one. Time to examine one’s “companions” and see who provides us counsel. Thanks M’Kayla!! Psalms are great!!

  2. Notice the blessed man’s delight is in the law of the LORD not the latest vision or hallucination or out of body experience.

    Biblical meditation – to repeat as if to memorize, to ponder or think upon as opposed to new age meditation which is to empty one’s mind.

    • Or, to focus on one word or phrase that strikes us and repeat that over and again.

      Biblical meditation is in the full counsel of scriptures, not just on what we need for it to say at that moment. Good point Java! 🙂
