Understanding the Times – Roger Oakland

Jude 3-4

3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Speaking of men who have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men….”, the Lord says he does not want us to be “unawares!” So He has given us His Word, His Will so that we can be AWARE! He doesn’t miss a trick and he doesn’t want us to either.

Right now, many people are being taken in by Glenn Beck. Some of our leaders are taken in by him, claiming he is a fellow Christian. But the Lord has not left any of us UNAWARE of the Truth, if we would just READ and BELIEVE what His Word says. The Lord looked ahead and knew that Mormonism would be one of the largest Christian cults in the World in these last days. So he gave us a warning in the Scriptures covering that very issue. He gave us all we needed to “ be aware” and to “beware” of Glenn Beck.

In Galatians 1:8 He told us, “But though we, or AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, preach any other gospel unto you THAN THAT WHICH WE HAVE PREACHED UNTO YOU, LET HIM BE ACCURSED.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Wickipedia says about Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, “Even as a young man, he was recognized as one who could find buried treasure through supernatural means. In the late 1820s, Smith said that AN ANGEL DIRECTED HIM TO THE buried book of golden plates inscribed with a religious history of ancient American peoples. After publishing what he said was an English translation of the plates as the Book of Mormon, he organized branches of the Church of Christ; a church whose adherents were later called “Latter Day Saints,” and popularly, “Mormons.”

Leaving no stone unturned, the Lord warns us that Mormonism, delivered into the hands of a man by AN ANGEL, is not Christianity but rather a curse. Therefore, Glenn Beck, a professing Mormon is not a Christian and if we were to align ourselves with him, we would be aligning ourselves with a man entrenched in a lie and a curse, Mormonism! Someone might say, “DID God really say that?” OH, YES, “GOD REALLY DID SAY THAT! Go back and read Galatians!! Study Mormonism and find out that they believe Jesus and Lucifer are brothers and that Jesus is not God! No way then can Beck be saved and profess to also be a Mormon. Psalms 1 also says, “Blessed is the man who “walks not in the counsel of the ungodly”….but his delight is in the Law of the Lord and in that Law does he meditate day and night.” Did God Realllllly say that ???” Yes, He Did! Many people read the word “ungodly” in the bible or “wicked” and assume the Lord is talking about child molesters, gang members, drug dealers, murders and the like, but that is not the all of it. He calls anyone who is unsaved wicked and ungodly!!!! We need to heed his warnings about Glenn Beck who is subtly inserting his Mormon beliefs into all that he is covering. His solutions are not Biblical.

  2. Sorry,

    http://www.worldviewweekend.com/worldview-times/

is not an article but rather a video by Cindy Jacobs promoting one of her conferences in 2009 and naming her guest speakers, most of whom are now aligned with Beck and sympathetic to his political ideas which really have their roots in his faith and false religion, Mormonism.

Rev. Jim Garlow, David Barton, Dutch Sheets, and Jim Hennessey. The problem with that is that the Lord warns us we cannot be unevenly yoked with unbelievers. And the problem with that is that we live in a day when pathetically many ministers are more concerned with their new revelations than warning the people about false teachers, and thus, by their own omissions, they ARE ONE!!! -that is a false teacher!

Another interesting site warning us of Beck is

    • Hi Karen.

You are right on with this issue of Beck and false prophets/teachers. The Lord said we would know them by their fruit. And this is proved when we hear them issue false prophecies and teachings, calling for an assembly that is not God’s. The problem with so many Christians today is when someone claims to be saved or states Jesus is the son of God, they are in that moment convinced and never bother to listen – to test – to what comes next. That is the key. Jesus said many would come in His name and would deceive many. Here it is! Dominion theology has moved into political America, aligned with “good works” aka social justice. They are no longer looking for the second coming of Christ, but are building a kingdom in His name, all the while believing they will become His manifest presence on earth. So, what have they done? They have created another gospel! An interesting point made by Roger Oakland on his Emergent Church series was the connection between Roman Catholicism and supernatural occurrences – aka charismania. It looks like all these roads do lead to Rome!

Dutch Sheets just made a move to Alabama where he has proclaimed the next move of God will take place. The Vatican has proclaimed the next move of the Holy Spirit will come from Mary, who is the co-redeemer. See what happens when we connect those dots…

How far we have fallen! And now, it is any wonder Karen, as you pointed out, why God has warned us to have nothing to do with false teachers? The church is blind and in its blindness has become apostate.

  3. mk, part of coming out of the WOF movement for me was questioning all the prophecies and everyone’s assurances that there was going to be a huge end time revival (we won’t mention the huge transfer of wealth-blah!) when the scriptures clearly say there will be a great falling away from the faith —-Not to mention, the one everyone can quote almost as well as they can quote JN 3:16. I am speaking of Matthew 7:13-15 which says,”Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.”(interesting that the warning of the wolves comes after the wide versus the narrow way!)
It just has to come to all this. It is no wonder we don’t hear about getting ready for hard times from all these faith preachers! The church has been lulled to sleep, and now while the Holy Spirit is crying out, “get ready, get ready, your King is coming”, the wolves are crying out”get ready, get ready, your blessing is coming!” And they buy it because it is music to their ears!

PS we are presently looking for a church. One we just attended for a few weeks was a non-denom pentecostal type. We decided to leave when the Pastor had us recite the Apostles Creed every Sunday followed by his praying something and the congregations’ reading the responce on the overhead. We also took communion every Sunday. Now there is nothing wrong with these things by themselves, but I was raised Catholic and I am not going to get caught up in that tedious, lifeless, tradition again. I think the Passion of the Christ pushed the Church blindly back into the clutches of the Catholic Church as much or more than anything recently. And those that are looking for something more than the scriptures, are falling for all it’s formalities and rituals, ie, candles, dimming the lights for effect, labyrinths, repetative prayers etc.

    • Ugh. What is the Apostles Creed? You know Bill Johnson has designed a prayer which is more like a demand than it is a prayer and other churches rattle it off each Sunday. I am sure with your Catholic background you can connect a lot of this emergent nonsense going on. I didn’t get a sense of Catholicism from Passion of the Christ, but then there goes your eye which is much more sensitive than mine in that area.

  4. Christians wiser than me have probably known for years that saying you are ‘Christian’ doesn’t mean anything in the US anymore. It used to at least mean you had a few basic beliefs in common, but now it seems more like the scenario in China where there are ‘official’ churches sanctioned by the state who are called Christian, but do not preach the gospel. The true Chinese believers know and understand this. The true believers know the true gospel will not be tolerated and if they dare preach it, it could mean their lives.

I wonder how long until we will be in the same situation?

    • In reading an article a moment ago I just picked up on another “clue” for lack of a better thought. The emergents (R Oakland has a section on this) also believe in SOCIAL JUSTICE. Ohhhhh! That’s where this is creeping into the church! I’ve seen it peek into mine and seen it on facebook. And tho we are to do good and help others, social justice is the process to take back the kingdom for God – aka dominion! It is not Christian thought, nor practice!

      • Yeah, that’s a good one. It really works on us Americans because we feel guilty. So if someone is pro-help the poor and says a few biblical sounding things then it MUST be good, right? Does it really matter if they teach lazy, false doctrine as long as we are “doing good?” cuz man it makes me feel so much better.

I’m sure we could talk all day about how good works and compassion should be a result of our faith and go hand in hand with preaching the gospel, but I constantly see people ignore poor teaching from a preacher who does good things.

I was in a church once when the whole ‘random acts of kindness’ was popular. The preacher encouraged us to do some act of kindness for a stranger, “but don’t say it’s in the name of Jesus or anything. Oh and pahlease don’t say ‘Jesus loves you.’ That turns people off.”

Wow. Do good works in your own name? I was speechless.

  5. Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel are Catholic which is why the Passion probably has a Catholic feel. There is something about that movie that I can’t put my finger on. On one hand, it told the story of our Saviour which is good but on the other hand, something seemed off. I know that there were some strange lightning strikes on the set where Jim almost got struck a couple of times or something. They all thought they had God’s approval but you never know….

  6. I became a Christian in the late 60’s When Father Dennis Bennett spoke of speaking in tongues from his pulpit. I was young, experienced the “craziness” in some meetings, not Father Bennett’s. I love miracles, but learned early on that God decides when and where healings take place, possibly in heaven. I learned that the fruits of the spirit were hard earned. My reason for even looking Bethel up on the Internet is that a dear friend, who had been hired by Bethel, many years ago, was involved in a terrible tragedy. He retained his faith with the loving ministry of Pastor Eddie Hash, who visited my friend for over a year and a half, telling him of the forgiveness of Jesus. My mind has not been able to wrap itself around this friend, a pastor, serving Christ, problems were visable, apparently, he had lost 80 pounds in 8 months, but there was no discernment and then no Christians from Bethel surrounding him after tragedy. I do not believe Pastor Hash goes to Bethel, I do not know. This all occurred before Bill Johnson. I must say, reading more about the signs and wonders movements, I am understanding, finally, how something so serious could have been so missed in a “Christian Community”. I have more desire than ever to follow Christ and thank you M’Kayla, I had read your blog where you used “pink” for emphasis, it was helpful. I just pray for all of us that are trying, He did the work, thank goodness.

    • The “church” is seriously compromised, and most Christians no longer understand the truth from the lie.

The “pink” – you must mean Wakey, Wakey. What a tragedy!
Thanks for commenting! 🙂 I am glad that you have been helped. Praise the Lord for all He has done and all He continues to do for us.
