Theotherapy or Completeness in Christ

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

An interesting read from a fellow blogger that I am sharing in light of recent discussion here regarding a need for “therapy”.  Are we not complete in Him as stated in His word? Colossians 2:10.

  1. Thank you M’kayla for that post. Makes me think that I had a very lucky escape. about 7 years ago we were linked to a church that had links with Toronto and partners in Harvest. They also were fascinated by Todd Bentley when he was in Lakeland. Somewhere along the line, I was invited to come along to Sozo sessions. I did not really know what to expect, great things were promised of course. I felt quite bad about it, because try as much as I did I could not really visualize anything! After a couple of unfruitful sessions they decided that i must be too rational, or lack imagination or a combination of both. With hindsight, I think I have had a very lucky escape. I have seen how some people get so pulled into visualizations, or soaking and will defend very strongly anyone who is not going to agree with them. It becomes like a “sacred cow” that can not be touched, or commented on – unless yo are willing to comment favorably. I worry when people are unwilling to discuss things and they claim them to be truth.

to be honest, I am greatly saddened when I ask a question like “what is the biblical foundation for this?” and get some very wooly answers.Good biblical theology is based on starting from scripture and building on top of that. Much bad theology starts with an idea to which people try to justify e.g. Prosperity Gospel springs to mind. It is when people seek revelation outside of the Word that problems start. I believe that there is a huge hunger for things of God, but people buy into the many lies about the spiritual reality. I remember very clearly someone telling us that if challenged by people saying that the practices are new age, then we ought to counter that by saying that in fact they are old age, part of our Christian heritage and we should be claiming it back! Want to end with the words of the 19th century hymn written by Edward Mote “On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.”

  2. I went to a deliverance ministry once and after the first session in which they spoke to the demon (without casting it out), they told me I had been the recipient of SRA (which was correct) and that I needed more counselling sessions. I was so frightened by that experience that I, a grown man, had to sleep in my Dads bed at night. The second session came around and I was perturbed by a file labelled “inner leading” which was used as a reference point. I never went back, my Dad the pastor likes to chide me about it, but I now see that they were using this Sozo stuff to try and deliver me. Thank you so much for sharing stuff like this,it is so liberating.

  3. God also had mercy on me when He didn’t allow me to see the “guru Jesus” imposter. At the time, I too thought something was wrong with me until God comforted me with His truth and showed me that I was being preyed upon by wolves in sheep’s clothing.
It seems that when people are allowed by God to see those apparitions it’s like a form of judgment that God is allowing to come upon them so that they will believe a lie. Because deep down they want to believe lies and as we’ve noticed——–time and time again—-they refuse to love the truth.

    • They cover judgement and shame up with the word.
Our family just survived a year of hell in europe. We were surrounded on three sides, judeo masonics, illuminati and Protestants spiritually assaulted us daily. All three factions are trying to deceive the Catholics to join their program.
I new it was time to come home to creation when I could not attend a Heidi Baker teaching (I had been pining away to see her speak) due to discerning knowledge that a whole host of demons were waiting for me to set my foot into that arena.
I pray that the Lord has touched enough children in Europe to rescue our brothers and sisters from these wolves.
Watch out for their grace and happy demons, what a deception.

  5. Sorry for mis-posting this, but couldn’t find an up to date place to ask this question.
In all of my studies, I have found a “civil war” going on. The Pentecostals think the non-Pentecostals are “lifeless”, and the non-Pentecostals believe the Pentecostals are “demonically influenced”. Isn’t there any true middle ground?
I believe in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost as taught in the Scriptures (beyond just what a person receives at the time of salvation). I believe in the demonstration of all 9 “gifts” of the Spirit. I also have difficulty believing that a Christian, regardless of their personal area of growth, can easily lose their salvation just because they’re deceived in some areas (aren’t we all?). God is FAITHFUL … Jesus didn’t die on the cross just so Satan could “steal” us away again after salvation … what sort of joyful assurance is that?!
But to be certain, I am totally disconnected from the likes of Todd Bentley, NAR, IHOP, Bethel, WOF, Dominionism, Prosperity, Latter Rain …et al. I believe these movements, as such, are playing right into the hands of the endtime Antichrist! But none of these movements can undo what God has already spoken in His Word!
MK … I enjoy your blog and read it often … but is there such a thing as a Pentecostal Baptist?? (tongue in cheek, here) 🙂
    Would greatly appreciate a response!
    Your Brother in Christ,
    Tim

    • Tim, while drinking my coffee this morning I gave a little chuckle at “Pentecostal Baptist”. I get it. My readers who have experienced these thing probably get it too. 🙂 I had a great response all ready and while doing a search I clicked on the tab I was writing from, and poof! just like that, my response went into cyberspace. This, not for the first time since the beginning of my blogging days! 😦 (In retaliation, and because I am feeling a bit vindictive to my own slop of hand quicker than the eye, I will be putting up new articles to cover those topics I only touched on in my lost comment to you.) But, for now, this —

It comes to mind from Ephesians 4

1Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, 2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, 3being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

When too much emphasis is placed in one area and not enough in another, the doctrine becomes out of balance. We have a disunity, a division of the church which Christ established to be as one. We can no longer dwell in unity with one another because we cannot agree. But the bible is the final authority in these things. Of course, we are not speaking of the false teachers and prophets – heretics – in this situation, only the “denominations” which in my opinion Satan has ruled as authority. Non believers are not stupid. They hear the arguments, see the differing opinions, and run in the opposite direction. The church is weakened, no longer as effective as it once was and we all whine and cry why we do not see things done as written in the new testament, the book of Acts…we need to wake up. And there we see the gifts have not ceased at all, but are not in operation to the extent they should be, could be, because man in his stupidity, his sin, his pride has gotten in the way of God. Harsh? Yes!

If we just stop and think for a moment, what is our title exactly? In the old days it was referred to as “The Way”. I kinda like the ring to that. After all, Jesus is the WAY, the truth and the life…hmm… We are called Christians; called by His name and that is what we are. We are not Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran, Assembly of God. Those are demon inspired from division, set up by man. And we see them falling even as we speak. The heretics have invaded.

I am glad you enjoy my blog. 🙂
      Peace be with you.

  6. Why would the Jesus of the Bible rewrite or erase a painful memory? Wouldn’t that be replacing the truth with a lie?
    🙂
This response came to me today …
Even the Lamb’s wound’s were not erased
But made whole by THE BLOOD ..

Beautiful scars worn as a testimony of Jesus
His redeeming love on display throughout eternity!

Revelation 5:6 … Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne—

Psalm 147:3 AMP … He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow].
    .
The Lamb will use our scars(healed wounds) to help others(if we let Him)
They are our testimony of Jesus
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and
The word of testimony –Rev 12:11 …
    .

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
3 Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
