Chat with Susan Puzio

Hello

I will be talking with Susan Puzio blog talk radio on Saturday, August 1 at 1PM Eastern Time. We will be discussing my involvement with the healing rooms and the false prophetic. During this time with Susan I plan to get more into the topic of dreams and visions since I haven’t gone into that topic much.

Here is the link, which will also be archived for later listening.

A Testimony and the Golden Sword

I am posting a testimony I just received as a comment to the warning against The Vineyard. Following that is a clip of Carol Arnott and her false testimony of the Golden Sword which is mentioned in the testimony. Watch Carol, watch the people. This is the demonic in action.

One day, years ago, while in worship at the Vineyard, I too had a similar vision in which I was given a sword. I hadn’t thought about it in quite some time until I read this man’s words. All these years later and I am still uncovering the false prophetic. Read on you will see what this man has exposed is true. We are subject to who we come under and will become victim and subject to that same demon spirit.

I want to say that I was involved in a Vineyard church for some time. In fact, the very reason that I found this article is my need and desire to understand why I was attacked there. I was wounded badly on all fronts. I began attending a Vineyard church after having been a christian for many years. I knew then as I do now, that God’s word is my final authority for everything.

When someone attends a Vineyard church, ANY Vineyard church, they become subject to the evil or the good that was involved in the inception. Do not be deceived, there is real danger and power in this movement. It is very very dangerous to ANY believer who becomes involved. Light has no fellowship with darkness.

The reason that I was attacked is both good and bad for me. Good in that the reason was not that I was hated but Him who lived both with and in me was hated. It was also bad because it led me down a path of self doubt or doubt that I was even saved for a time. Of course my attack was on many fronts and it was personal, social, even public in one case. There was also an attack that was spiritually so real that I cannot convey it in any words. I have come to the conclusion after too long a time that it was the result of misguided person in leadership who stood behind me during worship with a golden sword that he believed he received through the heresy of the “Golden Sword Prophecy” delivered originally by Carol Arnott in January 1997. (note – this video follows)
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am only still walking with our Loving creator because of grace. Through this I have found the key to victory has been really forgiving and loving the ones who so harmed me. I want to make sure that I tell everyone who reads this that God’s word is Alive. His name is Jesus. He is our final authority. The friend, the Comforter, The Holy Spirit my friend who sticks closer than a brother, always speaks of Him. The Holy Spirit will never add to the word of God. ALL truth is there for us.

I hope this is helpful for me and someone else. I would like to add one more thing that I noticed while I was involved in the Vineyard. They didn’t like it when I talked about my being fully persuaded that the Blood of Jesus was everything I needed and all I needed.
I noticed that they didn’t discuss the Blood very much at all. For me, my Christian walk can be defined as simply this: Being led by the Holy Spirit, the friend who sticks closer than a brother, into ALL Truth by one thing and only one thing, The Living Shed Blood of Jesus Christ. Peace to you all.

The New Age Propensities of Bethel Church’s Bill Johnson, John Lanagan

bkt-jl-bth-lgMy friends, John from My Word Like Fire has published the following tract on the relationship between Bethel teachings and the New Age. I was exposed to, and was taught similar ideas from John Paul Jackson. And in and my dealing in the false prophetic I too, was considered a “seer”.

It is widely believed and taught therein, that the works of the occult, the supernatural and psychic power are truly from the Lord. Those who practice these things outside a relationship with the Lord, only have yet to know Him, and that and the church itself has forgotten its true ways. Nothing can be further from the truth. If you have ever heard of Christian prophetic booths set up at fairs and conventions, this is where it comes from.

Thank you John, for a work well done.

Bethel’s Jesus Culture Awakening

Jesus Culture Awakening – Bethel (from Inerrant Word)

Well, there is an event starting today called the Jesus Culture Awakening in Chicago. Jesus Culture are essentially the worship band from Bill Johnson’s Bethel church. This is a dangerous group to be associated with and to be caught up in – I know!

I have had personal experience with the effect of Jesus Culture and Bethel when my wife was caught up in their music and teaching. You can find her testimony (4 parts) of how she got out from under their influence here, here, here, and here.

There is something insidious about Bethel and its associates. Often they appear at face value, to say Christian things and they even appear convincing (though there are some so ludicrous that it is a wonder anyone buys into them). But, for me, I was often left with a very ill feeling in my gut. Then when you start hearing some of the quotes from people like Bill Johnson who say that if we preach a message which allows for sickness, we preach another gospel (in reference to Galatians 1:8). There are plenty of youtube videos which show this.

For the message of Bethel is this: health and wealth, sign and wonders are what God does for you. You should be seeking after these things and if they are not abounding in your life, then something is desperately wrong! They will deny it of course: “we never say such a thing!” Not outright but it permeates their sermons, and messages. It is clear, unless you are experience all manner of odd things and signs and wonders etc, then you are in trouble.

Their ministry has such things as “healing rooms”, soaking, etc. You can read some very interesting reviews of these here.

I know that my wife turned from being a joyful, contented mother and wife into an aggressive, belligerent, and antagonistic woman. I have had people say, “oh, she must have just got carried away” or the like. The fact is, she was not alone. I know several other people personally who got caught up with this sort of thing. They acted and changed in the same way. The fruit of the Spirit goes out the door. Jesus and the Word being the sufficient and satisfying saviour and focus has gone too. Instead this obsession with miracles, angle feathers, gold dust etc replaces it. There is no contentment – only a desire for greater and more fantastic “miracles”. A desire which becomes absolutely consuming.

Now some of the people whom they associate with are very dangerous. People like Todd Bentley, John Crowder, Joshua Mills etc. If you have not heard, Todd Bentley has been involved in a crazy, signs and wonders revival in Lakeland in the recent past. During which it turned out he had an inappropriate relationship with one of his staff (while he was married) and then he ended up divorcing quickly and marrying this girl. I believe there were other issues he suffered with at the same time. While this was happening (and before it was publicly known), Bill Johnson and other extreme Pentecostal heavyweights laid hands on him in service and proclaimed God’s anointing on him and how he was doing great things for the Lord and would outshine Moses etc. Well, if they were speaking for God (which clearly they were not for they are false prophets) surely He would have warned them to provide Todd help in the very least? But no, it appears they use God as a means to gain.

John Crowder is as weird as they come. He refers to himself as a “new mystic”. The only word I can use to give him justice is blaspheming heretic. I have seen him do things which would make your hair stand on end! Things like sucking the anointing from people in graves like a vacuum, smoking “holy ghost” drugs (toking the ghost he calls it), falling around like a drunkard (calling it the drunken glory of the lord). He speaks heretical trash and the most shocking thing is not necessarily the things he says and does (for we have always had nutcases around) it is the fact that so many people follow him and show themselves to be undiscerning, ignorant, and deceived. One day, he will give an account to the Lord and it will not be pretty! You can look up multitudes of videos on you tube which show off the show that is John Crowder. Here are some interesting reviews of this man, his ministry, and his behaviour (there are many more if you type his name into Google): Apologetics Index, Slaughter of the Sheep, and Apprising Ministries.

So these are the people that Bill Johnson relate with and associate with. Dangerous people who would lead the flock astray and bring them to calamity.

But some great sites which have a lot of information about Bill Johnson, his associates and their teachings are Heralding Truth, M’Kayla’s Korner, Closing Stages, Apprising and Crosswise. There are multitudes of articles, reviews, comments, and testimonies.

All I can say, is be careful of this ministry and his teachings. Make sure that you test the spirits (1John 4:1) and do not let anyone tell you to let go of your mind etc. God created us a rational, thinking, creatures whom he commanded to worship in spirit and TRUTH (John 4:23). He tells us many times to test what we hear (Acts 17:11, Rev 2:2) to know if it is truth or heresy. My wife’s testimony provides some links in there to a post on a blog which helped her incredibly when she realised what was happening to her. I pray that you also will benefit from this.

The best thing I can encourage surrounding this event is that even if you are curious or you have friends of family going, run! Do not go. I beg you to avoid this event at all costs for it is dangerous. I am not someone who has taken these people out of context – their ministry, life and teaching is out of context. You can find multitudes of material on them and what they teach in proper context in their books, sermons etc which are easily accessible. The mounting evidence of their false teaching is damning.

I pray God gives you wisdom and discernment and if you are caught up in this stuff, I pray He would open your eyes and draw your heart back to Him!

Before you go, take a look to see what the children at Bethel are being taught. This video is a couple years old and was brought to my attention on a comment. – I was floored at the complete lack of reverence and respect for God, Jesus Christ, spiritual authority and the bible! What will become of these children?  Some scary stuff happening.

Letting Go

I was thinking this morning the non-ending chase this has all become. And it hit me this is the same chase the false prophets and apostles and revivalists put on their followers. With all that symbolism – the dreams, the visions, the numerology, the storms – that well passed around belief which tells them whatever happens in the flesh (or on the earth) also happens in the spirit realm. Every thing is a reason…and so it goes with them. Spinning and whirling from here and there looking for that hidden meaning of exactly what it is that God is trying to say to them.

No wonder so many are looking for a breakthrough or are in need of that next great prophetic word. No wonder they claim to feel spiritually stuck. They have been sent on some sickened treasure hunt for themes and meanings  based on “this is that”.  They are in need of the next great word from God so that they can make that decision they have been agonizing over. And so they go in search of a prophet, any prophet will do, anyone who has the ability to hear and speak for God on their behalf. And so they are always learning, never coming to the truth.

In Christ we are free. It is in admitting we are sinners before a righteous and Holy God, and asking for forgiveness. It is giving that same forgiveness to others who have hurt us, in the past as well as those who will hurt us in the future. It is in learning who He is by way of reading His word because this is the place in which God speaks. It is in being changed by His power through the indwelling of Him – the Holy Spirit. It is laying aside our hopes and dreams to take up the cross for the cause of Christ. For whoever loses his life for Him will find it. It is finally finding freedom from that spinning, dizzying chase to find that one meaning just out of reach, so cleverly hidden and authored by satan himself, and simply letting go of what we have held on to so tightly for so long…ourselves.

Matthew 16:24-26

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

When Bethel Invades Your Church

This is an article written by Kathleen Morgan who frequently commented here. She recently came out of the “Bethel Invasion”.  This is the link to her short story   When Bethel Invades Your Church.

As a child I was raised a Catholic, which included attending mass, catechism, and a first holy communion. As a young adult I read the Bible and decided to attend a charismatic Bible-based non-denominational church.

Eventually I left the charismatic church and attended a Baptist Church. I had never understood or been interested in the differences between the many denominations within the Christian Church.  This fuzzy attitude of mine has changed over the past year, and I would like to share my story with you.

My family’s experience at the local charismatic church

My adult daughter recently became involved in New Age and native spirituality.  After we had a few discussions and arguments over Christian beliefs and the practices of the New Age movement, she agreed to attend a local non-denominational church with me. As a family we had gone to a Baptist Church together, but I thought that under the circumstances a charismatic church would be a place that would suit the situation. I was hopeful that hearing the Scripture taught would reach her with the message of salvation.

To my surprise the Sunday sermons were less about Scripture and more about
the “revival” happening in the town of Redding, California, where the message of Bill Johnson, senior pastor of Bethel Church, was being preached. I heard about the students of Pastor Johnson’s School of the Supernatural and how they are being trained to bring God’s power and healing to us. I heard sermons laced with invitations to try “soaking prayer” and experience “fire tunnels.” I saw a speaker in church “downloading and processing messages from God.” There were invitations to receive God’s power and impartations of healing and prophetic words.

This church purchased curriculum from Bethel and invited “those who want to move forward with God” to attend. This was a class on “the supernatural,” the same signs and wonders of which the Apostles spoke.  Members of the Bethel Church traveled south in order to instruct people to “learn to have visions and dreams” from God. I was not comfortable with the subject matter and did not attend the class. The church also held a Bible Study fellowship and I asked my daughter to go with me.  She came several times and enjoyed the meetings. One night a woman give a talk about some kind of inner healing ministry she did with people. When she was finished speaking my daughter said, “Mom, this is what I am learning at the Healing Arts School; she is talking about what is in my book”.

Found on the Internet – Signs and Wonders?

Since that time I have grown very concerned with the emphasis on Bill Johnson and
Bethel.  I did research on it and found many articles and blogs full of praise for Bethel and the “new things God is doing.”  There are dozens of Youtube videos and blogs with statements like these: “During one of these meetings a leader in our church saw gold dust begin to appear on her hands. After the meeting she went home and the gold dust appeared again. She understood this sign to be an indicator to pray for her husband and for a visiting relative–both of them were healed. Her husband and her relative began to shout when gold dust appeared on their hands!”

The internet has countless intriguing, sensational, and supernatural stories of healings and gold teeth being imparted. I watched a Youtube video of gold dust stigmata appearing on hands, I saw hands and bibles dripping in oil and angel feathers falling from the rafters. Each time these accounts were attributed to God as “signs and wonders” of his unconditional love.

Modern Day Prophets?

These teachings are not coming solely from Bill Johnson, but they are part of a global alliance of modern day “apostolic and prophetic” persons. They claim to have been given impartations from God himself to prepare his church to usher in the New Heaven.  This is a vision shared by many people. The fabric of this “revival” is woven by dreams and visions of men and women who proclaim to know a deeper truth, much of it revealed to them by angels.

Many churches all over the world are partnering with Bethel and other “supernatural” congregations to bring the revival to your area. That statement alone is unnerving to me. There are schools of the supernatural opening up to teach young believers how to tap into God’s power.

I read enough of this phenomenon to make me have nightmares. Now I understand that this revival is happening whether we like it or not.

Responses from Other Christians

Astounded by all this, I called a few Christian friends that I have known for years. I asked if they knew about this “revival.”  I found a wide range of responses to my questions. Some are committed to this and believe my wariness comes from unbelief. Some think I still need to process the information. They honestly believe these new revelations are coming to us from God through “the corporate church.” Others think it is just weird, a fad of sorts. Then there are those who just ignore it, because they never gave credence to charismatic Christianity in the first place.

Where does that leave me?  After researching and experiencing it from a parishioner’s point of view, I find it full of man-made events and mystical occurrences. It troubles me enough to write this article and hope people will educate themselves on this subject. Many of the practices are taken from Shamanism and directly from pagan ceremonies. The ancient rituals hold some power and impart mesmerizing delusions. Christianity does not embrace the ceremonial rites of ancient religions. We preach Christ crucified, for the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

What Genesis Mandate Might That Be, Exactly?

This is a video by Cindy Jacobs, Generals of Intercession. I’m not sure when it was recorded or where, exactly. I am not a teacher and I know that Cindy Jacobs has been at her game much longer than I’ve been at mine. Let’s see what she’s made of as we go to the bible and compare her teaching  mix of covenant, economic structure and something she refers to as the Genesis Mandate.  Cindy is a member of the New Apostolic Reformation under C Peter Wagner and considered to be “a prophet to the nations” and a supporter and teacher of the seven mountains of influence. Her tag line is Achieving Societal Transformation Through Intercession and the Prophetic.  So we have to ask ourselves  – “is this Christ or antichrist?”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Transcribed with my notes, and you know I’m the one in blue. 🙂

Matthew 6:9 is something we know as the Lords prayer, but actually we could call this the disciple’s prayer. And God showed me that this is a prayer and every part of the prayer is an element on how to reform and transform a nation. And this is the reformer’s prayer.

This is the prayer of intercession that will help bring into manifestation the original Genesis mandate, to fill, subdue, multiply and have dominion in the earth, Genesis 1:28. This was our commission in the garden and it never changed, never changed.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray, saying nothing of transformation or the fulfillment of a Genesis mandate. She says nothing more of this scripture and she never even read it out loud, so it’s just kind of left hanging out there. Of course the push is –“God showed her”. This is the Lord’s prayer, twisted for her own devices.

And because we did not understand our commission sin came into the world and it began to deteriorate the ability that we had to steward the earth.

She is saying that we did not understand our commission and sin resulted. But this is what the bible says:

Genesis 3:13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” This refers to the command that God gave to Adam in Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die”.

So, they did not obey God. We call that disobedience, not a lack of understanding.

Now, I want you to listen to me it is very important that you understand this. In the garden there were certain systems that were corrupted.

Genesis 3:23 Therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. The garden wasn’t corrupted. Sin entered through the act of disobedience and Adam and Eve were taken from the garden.

One was the economic system. No longer did the earth produce, the curse came and so we have to reverse this curse. And so in the earth we see that there were corrupted systems that were full of greed and mammon. So we have authority to reverse that Genesis curse of poverty and death.

Adam and Eve, being the only two people in the garden, free to do as they please, eat whatever, whenever (except from that one tree). I don’t see any economy going on here. Free is the order or the system the Lord set up for them. Free.

When they were taken from the Garden, they were given means to provide for themselves and we call that means “work”.   If we read the first few verses of chapter 4 we see a good beginning, children born, a yield from the land and animals, far from what we could call poverty.

This is the life that would now be lived, one of work and of reward. Even after Cain murdered his brother and was sent away, he found the means to live, even building a city named after his son Enoch! (Genesis 4:16-17) Yes, there is sin, and with it comes consequences. And there is the curse of death from the disobedience, but hardly the curse of poverty. Even if she is speaking in a future tense, it was Jesus Christ who broke the curse of death, taking our sin on the cross. We cannot do what He has done. And we are still appointed to die a physical death – Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Jesus Christ is the only one who has the power of life and death. He is the only one who has the power to break a curse.

Not only do we have the power to do so, we have the mandate. You have to understand this. Matthew 28:19-20 we are commanded to go and make disciples of nations and to teach them to observe everything in this book.

This is why it is so important to know what the book says in context!

And I want to tell you that after Genesis societies began to deteriorate until finally they went into slavery for 400 years. During those 400 years they lost all ability to govern themselves.

It is the way of man to control another.  The heart of man is dark and evil in need of the Messiah! But her statement is quite vague. At the bottom of the matter is sin, the fallen nature, outright disobedience to God. And the only way is to turn back to Him. This is the message of the Old Testament, not societal or government fall out.

They didn’t have economic structure; they didn’t have government structures and so when they came out of bondage in Exodus 19:5 and 6 God gave them a promise. (Read in Spanish by translator). You shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation and a special treasure.

Now after this time in the book of Deuteronomy God began to give his plan for government. Deuteronomy one He told them to have representative government; choose one from each tribe. And I don’t have time to teach on this but I wrote a whole book about it. And so what happened is God took a people who were not a people, who were under slavery to Egypt’s system, we could say like the worlds system today.

I don’t see our economic structure the same as one of slavery. There are those in the world who suffer greatly under the control of other governments, but not all are slaves.

Notice she keeps making the point of the economic structure. Not one for the good of the people, but one what will bring wealth to the teacher, to the NAR through their control of the people. An economic structure much like the system of Egypt that she just spoke against!  After all, listen. It’s do as I say as I have heard from God and this is what He wants from the church today, this is the future. I tell you it is not.  Watch out, the antichrist is going to bring in a whole new monetary and economic structure called the One World Order.

And He made them the head and not the tail. He gave them the power to get wealth that His covenant could be established Deut 8:18. If we don’t have the power to get wealth, the covenant cannot be established.

I know of no covenant made by God that demanded wealth for it to be established! This is dangerous teaching and far from the meaning of Deuteronomy 8:18 which reads:

And you shall remember the Lord you God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

God is reminding them that it was He who has given them the power to get wealth by covenant that He made long ago. (Just a quick run down, as I am not a bible teacher, but I am thinking this goes back to the covenant God made with Abram in Genesis 12, then renamed Abraham, blessed as the father of many nations, then passed to Issac and Jacob, etc.)

The covenant He made with them was not dependant on their ability to get wealth! He is reminding them that He covenanted with their fathers to bless them, and so that all they have has come from His power and in their abundance they should not forget that. God is very big on reminding us what He has done for us.

We have the same covenant. We have the same mandate – the mandate given in the garden.

NO. It is not the same mandate or covenant made in the Garden of Eden! God said that the Messiah was to be born through a woman in Genesis 3, the words he spoke directly to Satan!

Jesus Christ is the new covenant, and in becoming new the old was done away with – no longer to exist!  Jeremiah 31:31-34, “A new covenant I will make with them…” fulfilled through Christ and the scripture repeated in Hebrews 8:8-12.  Verse 13 states, In that He says, “A new covenant, He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Luke 22:20 “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”  Communion is done as a remembrance to what Christ did for us, a reminder that He is the new covenant! Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant – Hebrews 9:15.

And then Jesus said I want you to disciple nations. Reverse the Genesis curse, He said I’m gonna give you the power of the Holy Sprit to be able to do that.

I’m not sure if she is loosely quoting from the words of Jesus in the great commission, or if this is her personal message. Jesus Christ never told His disciples they would reverse the Genesis curse. She did partially quote Matthew earlier, so let’s go with that.

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heave and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Not quite the same as what she saying it is. Again, no curse reversal, not even a mention of it!

And what happened? Everything became fruitful and began to multiply in the book of Acts. Acts 4 He gave an economic system and no one lacked anything. It is an incredible shift of world view.

She must be referring to Acts 2, again loosely. The book of Acts tells us of many who heard the word and believed and the church grew in great numbers. Praise God.  Interesting statement from Peter in Acts 3:6 – Then Peter said “silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have is give you; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Not the same as what Cindy is suggesting regarding no lack of anything. They lacked silver and gold, which blows her “economic theory” out of the water. The blessed thing is that these true apostles believed they had everything because they new Jesus Christ! Read through the book and you will see instead how they suffered much lack of many different things. How different from these modern day self appointed apostles and prophets of the NAR!  The only shift going on is not in the world view as she would have us believe but in her view!  We call that false teaching.

Now listen to me. Historically, even in there’s a massive revival it doesn’t change a city, because the government is still ruled by corruption.

How very sad a comment. There is no interest in true salvation here; have you heard it? True revival comes from true repentance of sin and a turning from the old life to the new life in Christ. A massive revival may or may not change a city. But that is not the point. Jesus Christ did not die to save cities or nations. He is not interested in historical statistics! He came to save sinners like you and me. And yes, the government of the world will still be ruled by corruption because the world is fallen in its sin nature. And until Jesus comes back to set up His kingdom on earth, the corruption of man and government will continue.

This is where the video ends. I don’t know if there is more but I am not able to find a part two. I can tell you from this statement of Cindy’s and all the teachings of the NAR they have an agenda to change and rule the world according to their own plans by taking dominion of the earth. They will do this through their apostolic structure, convincing others to come under their leadership. Their kingdom is that of the seven mountains of influence in society. They use the name of God, but not in the true sense as they do not come in His name, they do not teach His ways. This is the point she is making here at the end and is almost to say that Christ died in vain, we need more, we need dominion of the earth. Christ said His kingdom is not of the world. We are not to receive those who do not bring the true gospel of Jesus Christ. So be careful who you follow and what you work at.

Jesus said, Behold, I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me to give everyone according to his work. Revelation 22:12
