Yippee!

…from a conversation on a friend’s blog…

What else could it mean to say the Kingdom of God is at hand, than to say the Anointed of God has come? He is here. Emmanuel, with us.

I love that name – Emmanuel. It’s like the earth moves a little every time I hear it.

Right on! Jesus came for the lost, to save sinners, to repair the breach, so sinful man can have a relationship with God the Father again. He made it possible. All the rest is fluff. I want Jesus and can you think on the day we see Him face to face – there will be no standing up from that. I can’t imagine, really. All else fades in comparison. Yippee!

A Purpose Driven “WHATEVER”

I’m not a follower of Rick Warren. I read The Purpose Driven Life a few years ago and it bored me.  It’s just not my bag. But I see him popping up a bit more in some very strange places for a pastor. With the upcoming release of his latest work of “proof texting” entitled, The Hope You Need scheduled to take place just in time for “christmas shopping” I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at what this man really stands for. So before we all flock to our nearest and dearest book store for that hot copy, or that nice extra stocking stuffer, before we begin setting up life groups and bible studies based on more delusions, let’s have a reminder of who he is exactly.

from bruceewilson

Why would a man who claims to represent Christ and be a shepherd to His people compare the followers of Christ to the followers of the likes of Hitler, Stalin and Mao?  Why so impressed?  Could it be that at the very bottom of Rick Warren’s purpose driven heart, lies the same kind of evil, behind-the-scenes plotting?

“Whatever It Takes!” is not how God has us carry out His plan!  But, to those not willing to discern or see the truth, it looks good, it sounds good, it’s fun and it’s always a good thing to be a part of a good cause, right? So, let’s just stamp the name of “jesus” (or would that be “Isa”)  on it and go forward!

The man known as America’s Favorite Pastor has quite an involvement in government and world affairs. I always get suspicious when pastors start to play around in the political arena. It looks like America’s fav is well beyond most.   And I am sure there are some green-eyed monsters rising up out of the pool of domionists, because this man seems to have risen far above all of them in his accomplishments in the dominionistic attempts to take the world for Christ before His return!

Let’s look at some of Rick’s achievements

The United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability

8. Develop a global partnership for development

“By the year 2015, all 191 United Nations Member States have pledged to meet these goals. Keep the Promise – 2015”

Warren’s P.E.A.C.E. Plan

1. Plant Churches

2. Equip Servant Leaders

3. Assist the Poor

4.  Care for the Sick

5. Educate the Next Generation

If you go to the link above at the bullet you will see the chart comparison that show the similarities in these two plans. Notice, Warren’s original step #1 Plant Churches,  has been changed to  Promote Reconciliation.  Hmmm, maybe it’s me, but I am thinking this is not the same as the original plan and hmm..it kinda takes God right out of the picture, doesn’t it?

The article, taken from Kjos Ministries has excellent information and is worth your time to look over.

Church and Pastor focus and involvment to carry out his plan.

  • Rick Warren has joined the advisory council for Tony Blair’s Faith Foundation as The Reverend Dr Rick Warren, Founding and Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church and Founder of the P.E.A.C.E Coalition – The Council is composed of individuals from each of the six faiths with which the Foundation initially intends to work. The members are either religious leaders or significant scholars. They will often be nationally or internationally known but the most important thing is the expertise and wisdom each can bring to bear from his or her individual experience.

And..

It will be a place where members of the three Abrahamic faiths can meet on equal terms, encounter their traditions, and explore their roots; a place where they can both discover what they share and tackle their differences.

Jesus never associated with rulers or representatives of other religions. He did not believe in or support the idea that we should “coexist” much less function as one especially with groups responsible for killing His own.

  • Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations as reported a few years ago to Joseph Farah, World Net Daily

Does this appeal to you? A one world socialist government and all that entails, monetary system, population control, one world religion and it will not be Christianity – think  – Rockefeller “Illuminati”, very bad news indeed, and no place for a man representing the Most High God, much less teaching His people!

  • Rick Warren leads public prayers that seem like salvation prayers. They are not. They are watered down, people pleasing words having nothing to do with sin, confession and repentance.  Remember the words of John the Baptist – “REPENT!”
  • Rick Warren set up the presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain at his Saddleback Church.  I can’t think of a better reason for this than Warren’s own exposure.
  • Rick Warren Accolades – global strategist, theologian, philanthropist  – from his site
  • Rick Warren prays to “Isa”, or “in the name of ‘Isa'” at Obama inauguration.

from BereanBeacon

This is only an overview and a reminder as there is much more information than I can put in an article. Please do your own research and find the truth if you have put your faith in Rick Warren as a pastor and man of God. He may have started out right, but somehow, he has ended up on the wrong path.

Is this the man you will follow and consider a shepherd?

We are in the world, not of the world. There will be no peace until Jesus Christ comes back to earth and sets up His kingdom.  Until that time the kingdom of God is one of spirit.

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And this world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Is Obama Really the Problem?

I got this in my e-mail from Andrew Strom today and while I don’t agree with every word, I do believe he is making some good points, some I have considered lately myself.  While our fight is not political as Christians I believe it is good and right for us to fight for our freedom and to demand the truth from our officials.  However, there is a line to draw when it comes to gossip and lies and it is our responsibility to seek the truth in these issues.  A constant stream of bad news and scary topics will send us out of balance. God promised He would never leave us or forsake us! Not so long ago I was very angry at the things I was reading and hearing on the news. And some days I still get that way. So, this message is for me too!

Let us be careful that our emotions, namely FEAR does not rise up to become our driving force and defile our true purpose. We need to keep in mind that the things happening in America could be God’s plan AND just because we see things coming apart does not necessarily mean we are staring at the tribulation period!  The truth is we do not know the timing of these things. We have the clues, but no one knows the date!

At the very least, many of our freedoms as Americans and as Christians are being swept away because we did not do the work necessary to keep them intact!  Should we continue this fight, let’s do so with sober minds, taking our steps in order from the Lord and not return evil for evil, remembering to pray for those in office. They need Jesus too!

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word!  Re ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, will all longsuffering and teaching.

IS OBAMA REALLY the PROBLEM??

ARE WE BEING DISTRACTED From THE REAL FIGHT?
-by Andrew Strom.

Years ago a friend of mine, Robert Holmes, saw a vision of Christians leaving the Harvest field to go and join in with a “Civil War”. They were leaving their primary mission (the gospel) to go and make war against their own countrymen. What does it mean and why would they do such a thing? -This was unclear.

Like a lot of you, every day I get bombarded with the latest emails against Obama – and what he is up to. I can truly understand this.  Unlike a lot of overseas Christians who can’t comprehend this kind of American political partisanship, I truly get it. I lived in America for four years, and one of the things I saw clearly while living there is that America is at WAR with itself. And it is getting worse. Right against left, liberal against conservative. And there is no doubt that as an evangelical Christian, I am truly a “conservative” myself. But there is a lot that troubles me about what is going on.

When the US conservatives elected Bush, a lot of the world could not understand it. I understood it completely. America is at war with itself and Bush seemed like the most robust campaigner against the liberal agenda. It did not matter that he was not the “smartest” guy. He was strongly on “our side” in the culture war – and that is what mattered: Homosexuality, abortion, taxes, health care, and so-on. To a lot of US Christians, politics has become THE main arena where they fight and take a stand. So if I am a conservative myself, why am I so troubled by a lot of this?

Well, let me ask you some questions and hopefully you will see why:

-Is “Politics” the arena that Christians are supposed to be putting so much time and energy into fighting? Is that what the early church did?
-Aren’t we supposed to be more passionate about prayer and the gospel than we are about pulling the “liberals” down?
-Couldn’t this be a total distraction from our real mission?
-Doesn’t a lot of it amount to a giant “smear” campaign of rumor- mongering that should be beneath Christians to participate in? -In other words, isn’t the way we are speaking often gossipy, slanderous, mocking and ungodly?
-Why are prayer and the gospel taking a backseat to Obama-baiting?
-Is the Christian community in any country supposed to become a “voting bloc” for one particular party?

I think those are pretty important questions. And I think a lot of Christians may have trouble answering them.

The fact is, I get more “political” anti-Obama emails from US Christians every day than ‘spiritual’ emails. What does this say about conservative Christians? It says they care more about politics than the gospel. That is the conclusion I have to come to. And I believe this is Idolatry – pure and simple. Politics has replaced the pure milk of the word for a lot of Christians. They are on a “campaign” alright, but it is not a campaign for Jesus. And they devote hours and hours to it. They are feverishly checking out the “latest dirt” on Obama every night and hungrily devouring Fox News (which makes more and more ratings dollars as it drives every fresh controversy).
They love it! There is only one problem: It is not Jesus, it is not the gospel, and a lot of it is simply not godly at all. In fact, it is replacing Jesus and replacing the gospel.

If I was the Republican Party or Fox News or Talk Radio (each hungry for more ratings and dollars – these are not Christian organizations at all) then I would absolutely LOVE the fact that the Christians are so easy to whip up into a frenzy of Obama-rumors and Obama-trash-talk. But none of this is godly, is it? It is not remotely Christian. The early church would have renounced it utterly. They took no interest in politics. They only cared about Jesus and His simple gospel. And that is still the only thing that can save America today. We are being sidetracked.

But the frenzy continues. “Did you hear the one about Obama being likened to Hitler?” ‘Did you hear the one about Obama’s birth certificate?’ ‘Did you hear the one about Obama’s “death panels”? ‘Did you hear that there are really demons in the Swine Flu vaccine?’ (canned laughter please).

A lot of this amounts to a kind-of Christian “smear” campaign. In politics much of it would be considered in the ‘dirty tricks’ category – the kind of thing you do when trying to ruin someone’s reputation with sick rumors and innuendo. No matter if it’s true or not. As long as it does the job of “smearing” the person. Is that the kind of thing Jesus would want us involved in?

Here is the truly major thing that I believe the devil is trying to do in America today:
-He is trying to create division so bitter and so extreme that both sides literally start to fight one another with guns drawn. He is trying to tear America apart.
-He is trying to sidetrack the one group that truly has the answer.
He is trying to wrap them up in fighting politics, so they will forget that the pure GOSPEL is the only real hope for America today.

I believe the devil is truly succeeding in both of the above aims.

To conclude this article, I would like to ask some questions of the Christians who spend so much time on this “Obama War”:

-Do you spend as much time spreading the pure gospel as you spend spreading stuff about Obama? Why not?
-Is your mind and your energy and your passion more focused on getting the true gospel out – or defeating Obama and the liberals in politics?
-If you were asked to turn off Fox News and delete the “Obama”
emails and turn off Talk Radio, etc, could you bear it? Or are you more-or-less an “addict”?
-Do you really think it is right for this to be the big focus of your life?

I truly believe these are huge issues and huge problems in the American church today. But I guess I can expect a wave of angry disagreement in response!

God is Watching

I felt like I needed to shift gears here for a little while. There is so much going on in our nation right now and so much needs the light and truth brought to it, so many need to be warned!  I never expected to get as deeply as I have in this health care issue.  But that is usually how it happens, isn’t it?  We look back later and say – wow.

I would like to focus for a moment or two on the Lord.  I get much peace in knowing just a few scriptures and so I wanted to share them here with you.  So let’s take a moment for a freshened and more Godly perspective.

I love that God is One Who Sees  – as Hagar called him in Genesis 16:13. Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “have I also here seen Him who sees me?”

God is watching.

Psalm 33:13-15

The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.  14 From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; 15 He fashions their hearts individually; he considers all their works.

He sees you, He sees me, He sees all that goes on and knows the intent of all hearts! 1 Samuel 16:7b For the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Ecclesiastes 5:8-9  If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them. 9 Moreover the profit of the land is for all; even the king is served from the field.

Those who look to do  evil are watched by those higher than they.

It is God Who is King!

Psalm 47:7-9 7 For God is the King of all the earth;  Sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.
9 The princes of the people have gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.

We are told to watch over and warn each other!

1Thessalonians 5:14 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

Remember it is Jesus who is our great Savior and Lord, whose kingdom will reign forever!

Luke 3:31-31 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 3233 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

So as we go along, hearing bad news, warning others, remember to pray for those in high places. For many of them are lost, and though they speak against us, their only hope is the same as ours, Jesus the Messiah. Without Him, they have no hope and will be eternally lost.  Revelation 20:15 Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Remember to take a moment for encouragement as it is much needed and to encourage those around us. We cannot find ourselves bogged down in the mire of bad news.   Revelation 2:10 “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.  Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death and I will give you the crown of life”.

Remember, to look up for THAT DAY is closer than it has ever been!  Revelation 7:9-11 9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying;  Amen!  Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever Amen.”

Jesus is coming back as His own words remind us as many times as we care to read them of that truth and Who He truly is: Revelation 22:12-13 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

If you are a Christian, find encouragement in these words, and strength to continue your work. Let your light shine!

If you are not, repent!

There is no other hope for the lost, and no other way we can find salvation but through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to earth in  bodily form as a man, suffered and died as a man, and rose again proving he is God to bridge the gap between sinful man and a righteous holy God, restoring our relationship as His children.  Repent and turn from your sinful ways, turn to the Lord for forgiveness, strength and hope. Choose Him, for He is life.

The time is coming when all that we have may be taken from us, and we just may be seeing that unfolding before our very eyes!  No one can separate us from the love of God as His children.  In Jesus we find salvation for our sins and hope for tomorrow because He who has promised is faithful to never leave us alone. No man, or other religious belief, or system of government can do what only the Son of God can.  John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Whose Death??

A while back I was praying for some of my dearly loved family members.  I was somehow connecting the death of my daughter Jessica, and that sadness along with the sadness and loss I felt over these lost family members.  And in doing so, said to the Lord, “don’t let her death be in vain, save these others that I love”.   Don’t let her death be in vain..!!  What?

It hit me at that moment with full force what I was actually claiming.  Jessica did not die for these people.  Jesus died His death is the only one that should matter or be important.  Now, I didn’t actually believe her death had the power to do anything, but the words I heard myself saying made me wonder where my true focus had gone.

How wrong I was, and yet how often we put the death or struggle of another person in a higher place than it should be. How easy it is sometimes to allow our emotions in one situation to bleed over into another.  Jesus said we would have tribulation but HE has overcome the world! (John 16:33)

Can I spell REPENT?!!

The suffering and death of Jesus Christ is the only death that can ever make a difference is someone’s life. No matter our own suffering, no person on earth has the power to do what only God can!  For only He has the power over life and death, only He can bridge the gap between a Holy God and fallen, sinful and self absorbed mankind.

God forgive me, a sinner!

John 3:16 -17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.  Do you believe this?”

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Glad Tidings of Good Things

A couple of days ago I found out some information about someone who has been a great influence in my life.  The information shocked me, as it was hard to believe. I was angry for a time, confused and a little desperate.

This morning I found the joy and peace of the Lord very unexpectedly on another blog. And when I read the words written there this scripture came to my mind.

The moment profoundly impacted me and I was again reminded of the great unfailing love and perseverance of our Lord so often found in unsuspected places in His own people.

Here is the scripture.  May it remind you, as it did me, the blessing of good news and bring renewed hope to you as one who brings peace and glad tidings of good things.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
Your watchmen shall lift up thier voices,
With thier voices they shall sing together;
for they shall see eye to eye
When the Lord brings back Zion.
Break forth in joy, sing together,
You waste places of Jerusalem!
For the Lord has comforted His people,
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord has made bare His holy arm
In they eyes of all the nations;
And all the ends of the earth shall see
The salvation of our God.      Isaiah 52:7-10

THE LESSON OF THE FROGS

By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Jun 15, 2009 in Devotions

Back when I was still coaching high school football I received the following sermon illustration from Grady Vigneau, who was at that time anyway, the director of the All-Star Football Camp in Burlington, VT. In the times I was talking with him Grady never gave me any indication of being interested in spiritual things, so I don’t believe he had any real idea of the deeper truth he was speaking. During a short lecture to the young men, and young woman on my team, concerning making good choices in life, Grady then asked the players a great question using a riddle:

“There were 5 frogs sitting on a log. And suddenly 4 of them decided to jump off that log. How many frogs are left on that log?” Grady paused; and then he pointed out, “The answer is all 5. You see, making a decision to do something, is not the same as doing that something. Because to actually accomplish something requires an effort.”

Now here is that illustration applied to the spiritual life; making a decision to follow Christ, is not the same as actually following Him. Making the decision to be born again, is not the same as really being born again. And if you haven’t seen your life change since you made your “decision,” then you do have every reason to question whether you simply made some decision, or whether you were actually regenerated and placed into Christ’s hands.

For it is written — Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5). While not a blanket endorsement of all he taught, consider the oft-quoted words from A.W. Tozer below. I ask you to pray and ponder, if you will, while considering the fact that Tozer is preaching this sermon around the mid-50’s. I’d also like to ask you to carefully think about something else as well as you read.

Do you really think that the visible church of our Lord Jesus Christ here in America is stronger now than it was then? Do you think that we are seeing the radically changed lives of God’s true people, which we read about in the Bible, and have seen down through the ages in Church history? And are we turning the world upside down like Christians did in the New Testament? The truth is that Tozer put his finger right on the problem when he said:

The old cross [killed] men; the new cross entertains them. The old cross condemned; the new cross amuses. The old cross destroyed confidence in the flesh; the new cross encourages it. The old cross brought tears and blood; the new cross brings laughter. The flesh, smiling and confident, preaches and sings about the [old] cross; before that cross it bows and toward that cross it points with carefully staged histrionics— but upon that cross it will not die, and the reproach of that cross it stubbornly refuses to bear.

I well know how many smooth arguments can be marshaled in support of the new cross. Does not the new cross win converts and make many followers and so carry the advantage of numerical success? Should we not adjust ourselves to the changing times? Have we not heard the slogan “New days, new ways?” And who but someone very old and very conservative would insist upon death as the appointed way to life?

And who today is interested in a gloomy mysticism that would sentence its flesh to a cross and recommend self-effacing humility as a virtue actually to be practiced by [so-called] modern Christians? These are the arguments, along with many more flippant still, which are brought forward to give an appearance of wisdom to the hollow and meaningless cross of popular Christianity. (The Pursuit Of Man, 53, 54)

But in the end men and women, what are we to make of these Words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth — Then He said to them all: “If anyone would come after Me, He must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). Today, shall we pray — My Lord and my God, please help me to deny myself, take up my cross, and to follow You. No matter what; to the end…
